Great trails to get you pumped to hike all the time. Peanut cascade trail takes you to the edge of cliffs, down steep rock "stairs" and over streams to the majestic falls. It puts you right onto the Hudson River. Worth the trip and great workout. Beginner friendly if your not afraid of heights and got ambition. Restrooms: Inside Cafe before 5, or porta pottys. Dog-friendliness: Yup, on a leash. Maybe not the best for older dogs or dogs with arthritis. Picnic area: Right by parking lot. Great views
This is a good hike..rated moderate and i would agree. Alot of stone steps but not terrible to traverse. You go literally from the top of the cliffs to the bottom!
A more accessible trail that leads to the Giant Stairs. Peaceful to sit and relax.
This is one of the best 2-3 hours of moderate trail near the NYC. You need to wear a good hiking shoe as there are some rough and rocky trail if you do the loop.
Amazing hike to and from this area. Definitely one of my favorite paths in the area. Brought cute doggo with me as well. Make sure to get here way before dusk as it can get dangerous. Otherwise the views are amazing here. Worth checking out!
Getting to the falls isn’t easy. But if you are physically fit and able to go down and up large steps made out of rocks, it is beyond worth it. The steps are uneven and pretty massive at some points, so proper footwear is a must. Also be cognizant that not watching where you’re stepping and falling is potentially very dangerous. That being said, the views of the falls, the stream, and the river are gorgeous. 100% would do again. Repeatedly.
An interesting set of falls right before the Giant Steps. It's a bit of a challenge to hike down, but it's rewarding.
What can I tell you, the Palisades Interstate Park is located in NJ. The park is roughly twelve miles long and less than a mile wide. It runs along the Hudson River shorefront and is filled with uplands, cliffs, rocks and trees.
Long strenuous hiking. Not for beginners. Good hiking shoes are strongly recommended. Beautiful views.
I enjoyed that hike very much. Don't let the close proximity to New York City fool you, this has some scary moments, but nothing too terrible and very enjoyable.
