Pearl River Community College Museum is a 2,000 square foot historical repository for Pearl River Community College and for educational history in the lower Pearl River Valley. Pearl River Community College serves a district of six counties.
The Pearl River Community College Museum was founded in 2001 and occupies a permanent place on the Pearl River Community College's main campus in Poplarville, MS. The museum houses a collection that emphasizes the educational experience in the college's six-county district comprised of Forrest, Hancock, Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Marion, and Pearl River counties. The museum also houses documents, photos, and other objects that portray the rich history of the state's first and the nation's sixteenth public two-year college.
The Pearl River Community College Museum is a repository for historical
artifacts that reflect the history of Mississippi’s oldest public
two-year post-secondary institution and the six-county district that it
serves: Forrest, Hancock, Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Marion and Pearl River
counties. It is dedicated to discovering, preserving and interpreting
important knowledge about Pearl River College and its district and
educating its students, faculty, alumni and district citizens concerning
the unique history of Pearl River College and the local community it
serves.
