A little about myself - I am 43 years old and from Louisville, KY where I went to undergrad and graduated dental school in 1995. I completed my post-doctoral pediatric training at UNC-Chapel Hill in the spring of 1998 and fell in love with North Carolina. That same year, I created my own practice from the ground up in Nov 1998. I was involved in every aspect of the project from concept to opening the doors. During this process, I did NOT work (very different than most!). I learned an immense amount of information on becoming a business person. By the end of year 10, as a solo practitioner, we were collecting receipts that far surpassed my expected goals!! It is my sincere hope to help others who go through the same process reach their success as quickly as possible.
After my first 10 years in my previous office, I built our 6100 sq. ft. dream office and we moved into it in May 2008 (www.CaryPediatricDentistry.com). I have since incorporated my awesome partner and we have been chugging along happily ever since. Last year’s receipts were more than I could have ever imagined and I absolutely attribute it to not only a great admin and clinical team, but also to the design of the office to maximize efficiency and marketing appeal! Our patients go out and do 95% of our advertising for us by telling their friends about our office :)
One consistent focus I have found over the many years of consulting is guiding you through the process and avoiding similar (and expensive) mistakes your previous colleagues have made. Not to diminish having a practice management and design consultant, but what you would spend on someone like me or someone else is a drop in the bucket of your total budget versus having to move walls, fire a bad staff member, deal with a lawsuit from not having a policy and procedure manual, etc. I have had the pleasure and honor of helping 100+ colleagues design and open their practices.
My goal anytime I enter into a project with someone is to minimize the bumps, beef up your shock absorbers for those bumps, avoid pitfalls, instill confidence and ultimately HELP OTHERS ACHIEVE! My services can be whatever you need them to be to help you feel comfortable and lead you thru a successful establishment.
These can be as simple or involved as you would like:
* Reviewing your floor plan and making important and vital suggestions.
* Providing a thumb drive with copies of our Office Business Plan, Office Forms (this is HUGE!..which is everything from patients forms to staff forms - probably the most work I've ever done! haha), Policy and Procedure Manual (the BIBLE of your office!), Emergency manual and Needlestick Protocol, general office manual, clinical manual and new TEAM member training handbook. This makes it easy and turn key for you to simply find and replace my name with your name and the practice name.
* Purchasing a block of consulting time and utilizing it however you need.
* Deciding on packages that bundle some of the above mentioned items.
* Leading you through hiring and firing - team building and annual team retreats, including in office visits, setting a budget, establishing your chart of accounts, marketing and customer service.
I am willing to work with you on any of the above to see what fits you the best. Remember that the majority of mistakes are made in the initial year or two of practice, so consider those to be the most critical for long term success. Please understand that is not a pressure statement, simply a factual one. Mistakes usually equal high dollar and high stress and pressure...remember this is supposed to be fun :)
