Overall a very professional and honorable department. One of the best in the central illinois. Some overzealous searching for drugs and over policing of minor traffic offensives prevents a full 5 star review. But those problems come from some tragic overdose deaths and a policing for profit mentality at a county level. Recently the City and County seem to be relying less on tickets for funding but that changes month to month. Still a VERY good department.

I love how I get pulled over for "rolling thru a stop sign" and get searched when I've never been in trouble in my life AND they throw my holy medal in my back seat from my grandpa's funeral BUT when I a grey Ford escort passes 3 cars in a turn lane going way over speed limit, they are no where to be found. Hmmm... Get the little kids off the force because I should have a say in where my tax dollars go. Definitely not to some new kid that refused me a female officer. But anywho it's Pekin. What can you actually expect? nothing!

I called the nonemergency number at about midnight about a couple of stray dogs approaching my boyfriend and our puppy very aggressivelythey had to run inside. While it would have been simple for the officer to have told me "oh just wait until animal control is open tomorrow and call them", he gathered all information needed and told me he would send officer to patrol the area. Honestly, I didnt believe one would show. However; not only did he show within 3 minutes, he made several passes of several streets in my area. It probably seems insignificant for most, but I was very impressed by everything about the experience. Thanks so much PPD! Keep up the work and stay safe out there.

Officer richardson is a very good law enforcement agent he spoke with me about a situation and treated me with true honesty and respect i felt very comfortable as he is the true definition of a great officer of the law. All officers could learn alot from him i appreciate your understanding of our situation thank you so much.

Never have had anything but positive experiences with Pekin Police including the time I was pulled over for a broken headlight. Officers are professional and courteous. Unbelievably quick response times for emergencies and reasonably prompt for non-emergencies.

Great CNN story today. What heroes in Pekin! My dad grew up in Pekin and it was a wholesome midwestern city. Glad to see nothing has changed. Hats off to Det. Mike Eeten in particular.

When you respond to a domestic call, you guys need to stay there until the person told to leave, actually leaves. More fights and arguments can start right back up after you leave .Just as it happened tonight!!! Make sure the whole scene is clear before you leave!!!Why risk that chance?? Thanks for your service though!!!!

I think the Pekin Police Department could use a freshening up on the criteria for welfare checks on young adults and minors and lose the assumption that the wife is always the abused party in a relationship of domestic issues when being reported by family members or Facebook or DCFS as many times as this particular family was the suicide invasions should have been enough to remove the children years ago but instead they only removed the dog possibly if I would have tied my children up outside they would have taken the children away instead of the dog and then they wouldn't be in the condition they are today just saying otherwise thanks for all your service it's been swell

Nothing to do so they sit on parkway trying to get someone going 33 downhill in a 30. Get a real job and quit leeching off of taxpayers.
