I had the elk burger and onion rings. Overall a good quality burger. Great tasting, but not over the top. Onion rings were very good. Crispy with a hint of sweet onion. Two of us had the elk burger, onion rings and drink. It came to $49.31. The burger and onion rings were reasonably priced. But almost $8 for 2 regular sodas was too much. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. Atmosphere was done well. We sat at the window seats to watch the world go by as we ate.
This place is very unassuming from the outside but has a lot of space inside. The decor is great with a heavy dose of Coca Cola themed items for decorations. However, the real treat is the food!!! I would highly recommend to try the elk burger. It is juicy but not too juicy and not at all dry. The elk burger is seasoned to perfection and needs no condiments and I think they condiments would have taken away from the superb flavor! Pairs this with the Parmesan fries and man what a meal! I shared the 2/3 double burger and it was the perfect about to leave us both satisfied. A special shout out to Owen who was a great host in the dining area. He was attentive and anticipated a need upon arrival without us asking. A happy and pleasant young man that added to our dining experience.
Super awesome place. Perfect burger dive! They have a wide selection of burgers and toppings. Fries and chili are excellent as well! Super friendly staff, and again, the food is just awesome! The only thing is, don't come thinking to pay $10 or $12, it's gonna run you around $20-$25 per person depending on what you order.Food: 5/5
Stopped by while visiting the town. Prices were high, but that seemed to be the norm for that area. Food wasn't bad. I'll probably eat there again if, in the area. The French fries were overdone. Borderline burnt, but that was for only a few of us. Overall, I've had better, and I've had worse.Food: 4/5
Wow. I don’t usually give 5 stars but this was perfect! I came for an early dinner 4pm it wasn’t very busy and the food came quick! The service was very good! I loved the atmosphere, it was very much one of the best restaurant atmospheres I’ve been too! Now for the food! I got the big daddy burger and wow! They had all the flavors down! Definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had! I got the parmesan fries and they were awesome! If you get fries get the Parmesan ones! I will 100% be back when I come back to town! A side note: If you go, go big and don’t be safe! Get something from their specialty menu! Parking: You are able to park on the street if you are lucky enough to find space. Close by however there is a payed parking spot. 2$ an hour. Kid-friendliness: It is a very kid friendly environment!
Stopped in for Luch on a Sunday afternoon. Like the other reviewers mentioned unlike what you see from outside, this place has a lot of space to sit inside. Placed orders for Elk and Buffalo Burgers and they were perfectly cooked and delivered quickly. Would definitely recommend stopping by this place when you visit estes.Food: 5/5
Cool place, great food, friendly service! Even when busy, they kept up very well. Staff seemed like they enjoyed their job. I had a pizza burger. Did NOT expect the bun to be an actual pizza! It was amazing! The Hawaiian was awesome too.Food: 5/5
I came here because it has good reviews, but in my opinion it is not good at all. We got 2 buffalo burgers, and they were super dry!! A kids pizza was bad also. Not well cooked. 1 star for the food because there is not less that. Sorry Not worth it at all for the price. Whatever I ate was because we were starving.Food: 1/5
We decided to give Penlopes a shot because of the glowing reviews and the availability of Elk. I had the elk burger which was a bit gamey but cooked to perfection. My wife had the elk brat and she really enjoyed it as well. Maybe a gift or a curse, we saw some Elk right outside the restaurant. That was worth the trip alone.
My fiance and I made a pit stop for lunch at Penelope's while visiting Estes Park. We hadn't eaten here before and decided to try this over other restaurants because my fiance is a big burger guy, and the vintage "world famous" sign hanging outside caught our attention. We loved the old school dive bar/diner atmosphere and all the memorabilia on the walls. We were planning to order our food to-go as it seemed when we were waiting in line there were no open tables, and to our surprise there was way more dining space available inside than you can see from outside or in the entrance. I ordered the Baja cheese burger pictured and my fiance got a 1/3 single patty cheeseburger. While the burger I ordered came with fries was a tad overpriced in my opinion, it was worth it. The burger was juicy with lots of flavor and the handcut fries were hot and seasoned well. We'll definitely make our way back here next time we're in Estes Park, and we plan to dry their malt shakes as well!
