The Peninsula School District has established its presence on social networks including Facebook, Twitter, and others as a method of increasing communication with parents, the community and the general public.
The Peninsula School District has an “Electronic Resources” policy and procedure that defines acceptable and unacceptable use of the district’s electronic, computer and network resources. Procedure 2022P states that “Online communication is critical to our students’ learning of 21st Century Skills and Internet Tools such as blogs, wikis, social networks, podcasts, email, new media or other Internet tools offer an authentic, real-world vehicle for student expression.”
The regulation also states that the: “District holds those using these web tools to the same acceptable use, terms of agreement, standards and expectations and must follow all established Internet Safety guidelines.” Also, “the District reserves the right to monitor appropriate behavior and adherence to instructional guidelines. Anything deemed to be inappropriate will be subject to deletion.”

State law also has specific guidelines regarding elections. RCW42.17.130 prohibits the District from using its facilities, either directly or indirectly, for the purpose of assisting a campaign for election of any person to any office or the promotion of or opposition to any ballot proposition.
