MVP arena is pretty big for the area it's in. I came here for the first time and didn't know what to expect but I must say it's better than expected. Very spacious, clean, big bathrooms and tons of eateries here. This arena is definitely smaller than Madison square garden. The different seatings are easy to find too. So enjoy!
Recently attended a concert here. It was my 1st time in the Arena, and I was very pleased with most of the night. The concessions were of course priced high, but there were some decent options for food & drinks. What impressed me the most was the friendly security and ushers working that night. Found free parking 2 blocks from Arena wknd and traffic was not an issue arriving or leaving.
Great venue and staff but I'm sure like all venues now, food & beverages especially are too expensive. $36 for 2 beers! Also not accepting cash payments is rediculous. The event was AEW which was wicked awesome !
My husband and I attended a Luke Combs concert at this venue a few months ago. We got there a little early but I'm glad we did because going through security was a total mess and really disorganized. People were moved like cattle into this waiting area and even though we physically had to walk through metal detectors, the staff just told people to put their phones in their hands, raise their arms and walk through defeating the whole purpose of the metal detector since everyone's cell phone was setting off the alarm. Once we got inside it got a little better though. We purchased front row seats in the lower section Row AA if I remember correctly which was right behind the general admission standing section but elevated high enough so that we could sit down and still be eye-level with the stage and see above the people in the standing section. The show itself was incredible, the lines at the concession stands moved quickly and the staff were all friendly BUT they have big issues when it comes to their restroom situation. Lines for women are always long no matter where you go but the line at this venue was so long that it covered the entire downstairs floor and led halfway up the stairs. Another issue was the fact that they had separate entrances and exits to keep the flow of people moving in one direction but they didn't have any staff on site supervising. Women were repeatedly skipping the line and entering the restrooms through the exit and it was a mess.
The arena is very nice and bathrooms are in good condition and clean. The show was great. There is a parking garage is right near by. There is a variety of foods sold, for okay prices. The seating is a little bit small but it looks a still comfortable. Good security, easy to get in and not a big wait.
Went to Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. Everything was easy, from parking, entry in, finding our seats. Great seats we had and at the end, smooth exit from arena and parking garage.
Took my kid to see My Chemicals Romance. A solid place for a show. Decent acoustics and food/drink choices in the venue.
Nice Arena. Old, but functional. Pretty clean. Kinda dangerous with no plexiglass plates on the balcony area - law suits waiting to happen. Bathrooms are rough, old, simply light, not enough soap dispensers or drying options. If they updated anything, bathrooms should be IT.
The regional NCAA hockey games were my first trip into the rebranded MVP Arena. An area lifer, I attended Sinatra's opening for the Knickerbocker Arena 01/30/90. Not much impresses me about this concrete bowl. Some upgrades are nice: the enclosed entrance, new escalators, better ventilation / air filtration, and new signage. The huge banner promoting NY breweries is placed directly above the closed kiosk for said beers. Parking off Grand Street is an easy stroll to the arena. The Arena's surrounding supporting businesses are mediocre at best. The problem for hockey remains the same - lack of fans. Since the glory days of the River Rats - Red Wings rivalry, fan support is challenging. While the final Minnesota - Notre Dame game had decent fan support, the opening games did not. The Mayor's Cup is our only local hockey and its attendance is dependent upon the success of RPI's / Union's teams. Hopefully the NCAA regionals will return. But will the fans?
Just a few things attending a concert in this place was ok, first the sound in the building was terrible couldn't even hear the vocals from the artists. Second if your seated on the 3rd level you have to go down to the 1st level to use the bathroom it's just not practical. ‍
