Perkins usually known for pies and muffins and a menu consisting of breakfast, lunch and dinner. My experience there was disturbing. It is SO dark in there unless you're checking out so you can see the pies and muffins. The place is in dire need of remodeling....the carpet so worn there were actually holed in it and where I was sitting...right next to the kitchen entrance...the carpeting had an odd sheen from constant wear. I ordered from the "build your own" section. I got 2 eggs over easy lightly cooked hash browns...I asked for that because I hate the ultra crisp sort...I got 2 pieces of perfectly cooked bacon and 3 pancakes.....looked very small like child's order. The pancakes were the only item that was hot! Good was good tasting...just not fond of tepid eggs and hash browns. They were busy so asking for warmer food may have been quite the wait. On checking out....I paid with my debit card. The machine that takes the card was so overtly filthy that I did complain. The syrup dispensers were heavily stained with food smeared with others dirty fingers. If you don't mind any thing I said and don't mind the high prices then by all means enjoy!
Second time visiting Perkins. My family loved it! I wish he had Perkins in TX a lot better than Ihop or Denny's.
On our way out of Kansas City, we stopped at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Lenexa for breakfast. It conveniently located near the I-35 & 87th St interchange. It was early Saturday morning and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. After some good coffee and time to ponder the menu, my wife ordered the Eggs in a Hole 2 slices of sourdough bread grilled with eggs and served with hash browns and bacon and I had the California Avocado Benedict eggs benedict with avocado, bacon, roasted tomatoes and pepper jack cheese. We both enjoyed our breakfasts very much and would recommend Perkins if you’re looking for a nice breakfast in Lenexa.
Every year for Christmas Perkins accommodates our seniors group from the church. They do an amazing job of catering to our group of 50! We’ve come every year for the past 10 years and have loved it!
We came at 10pm on a super cold evening. We were welcomed immediately by a friendly employee. We were seated quickly. We loved half price appetizers although the fried pickles were a bit soggy. Our waitress T was great. She's attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The woman, I am assuming is the manager, was also attentive and friendly. I had the cheeseburger meal and the burger was comes medium the way I like. It was delicious! My husband had the loaded potato soup and BBQ chicken sandwich combo. My mother in law had Carmel Apple pie with ice cream. All of our food with the exception of the fried pickles were prepared perfectly. It was a great experience. We will be coming back!!! 1/19/19
Me and my husband enjoy stopping by late night on weekends after work for a bite. The food is always great only thing I'd say needs improvement is the time it takes to be waited on. We usually have to grab a menu and seat ourselves as it takes a while for the waiter to come out and greet us. The staff has always been friendly though otherwise.
We had a large party this evening, consisting of 13 people. We were given a place toward the back with several tables pulled together. The staff this evening was awesome. She took the orders quickly and the food arrived hot, correct, and very good. In one instance when the staff was exceptional and went out of her way, was when a couple of the children ordered fruit, she took it upon herself to bring all the kids fruit to avoid any fights. She was quick to meet our requests and did a fine job. The arrangement of food ordered ranged from salads to breakfast. All good. The restaurant was semi-busy, clean, and so were the bathrooms.
The food was good, not outstanding. Price was right after 20 percent discount. Service was very good. Restaurant was clean and neat. Pie was disappointing. Lemon meringue lacked enough lemon and the crust was below average. It is a place to eat when you don't feel like cooking.
The menu has a wide variety to choose from, I had the Roast beef meal, with choice of two sides, I chose house salad with blue cheese and rice pilaf, from the 55 or older menu, and my husband had the huge breakfast, tremendous 12 and he liked it. We went at 5:30 pm. The only problem was there is a staffing issue. The cook drenched in perspiration had to take orders, and seat people. I believe, if it was fully staffed, it would've been 5 star.
I was pleased to be getting a Perkins near my home. I have been gravely disappointed. We have been there several times over the last 3 years and I can only think of once when we got good service. Seated promptly, long wait for drinks and longer wait to order. The food never come out right. I have always had a problem with even getting my toast buttered. I had one waitress tell me the kitchen doesn't have time to waist buttering toast. I have talked to the what ever manager has been on duty and gotten discounts for the lousy service and/or wrong order. BUT when I give them another chance it just reminds me of why I shouldn't go back.
