I adopted a dwarf hamster today. He looks healthy. Very cute. Sometimes when we go there, the cages don't look so clean. The puppies and kittens are overpriced. A 3 month old German Shepherd was $2000 and the kittens are $188. They get payed on commission so that's why. The employees are nice but are sometimes bossy. I would adopt a pet again
This pet store is ok, nothing great. My kids like to stop and look at the animals here if we are in the mall. Some of the workers are not very helpful if you were buying a pet here.
On 08/19/2018 I went into the store to purchase turtle food, which they stated that they do not sell, because there was not any turtles to purchase at the store..ok whatever. As my and my 7 year old son were leaving he wanted to look at the puppies and we checked out the cages. The dogs were skinny and eating their own feces. I then talked to a women who was looking at an red eyed skinny small puppy, I told her to research Petland and be careful they could be from a puppy mill. Then the employees verbally attacked me and told me too leave the store. My son was behind me looking at the animals and they shut the gate on me, with my son still in the store. I should have called the cops, but the mall security was closed since it was Sunday. Needless to say I got my son out of there, and he was visually terrified. I have never been treated like a criminal for stating an opinion, if they were not selling puppies from bad breeders they would have nothing to hide. This place needs investigated and shut down..period. And I also purchased over 300 dollars from stores at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall. before this incident..never again after the way this store does business. If my husband had been there and had seen my son locked in, things could have gotten dangerously worse. Thank god this experience did not turn violent, but please not purchase pets from a place like this..do your research...you would if you were buying a car..why not a puppy ?
I bought my puppy here I have had her for 2 wonderful years now. Price was not to bad. And health wise so far we have had no issues, she has brought so much joy to our lives! Staff were great also.
Not only are the pets kept in horrible conditions, but I witnessed first hand abuse towards the animals inflicted by employees. I saw an employee repeatedly whipping food pellets at hamsters. I wish I was exaggerating. Not only are the employees careless and do not care if the customers pick up their animals, but don’t even show you how to properly handled them. Also not to mention how their puppy mill dogs just sit their in tiny boxes all day. I’d give it zero stars if I could clearly. Do not by animals here. Find a breeder or better yet adopt! You can adopt any type of animal found here!
It's always a shame to even glance in this stores direction when passing it in the mall. The dogs and cats inside are denied proper care every chance they need it. I'll proudly keep paying local shelters for their animals knowing the payments are going towards taking care of the animals properly and helping more in the future. Paying a 125% premium on unkempt pets is a little too asinine for even the truly ignorant.
As a dog lover and owner of two dogs, I feel for the dogs at this location. I will not be going back considering how their dogs were treated. One of the puppies that I began petting did nothing but bite like crazy, and being a former Labrador breeder, I knew that this puppy was unsocialized and was probably cooped up so much that it began to develop behavioral issues. I cannot believe that any person could lock a dog up in such small cages twenty four hours a day. It breaks my heart.
We bought a ferret here during Christmas of 2017. We were told it was a nutured male. We never thought twice about it. We went to a different pet store this past Christmas and bought a second ferret. I started to notice the differences between the two ferrets. The ferret we were sold from this pet store was a female not even spayed. Now we are looking into almost $700 in vet bills to have her fixed. Be careful at this store the employees sell animals with very wrong information
They have a white boxer puppy that you can see every bone it has. They said there is nothing wrong with the dog. There vet signed off on it. The dog was 3 grand now knocked down to 1800. I talked to the manager and when I said the dog looks sick he got angry, said they bought him like that. If I could post pictures of the doggie would.
Way over priced. Of all the dogs I've had in my life, I've never paid for one. I always look in the paper or online for "Free to good home". That's the best way to get a pet. I've also had the best luck with mixed breeds. I think the people paying extra money for papers and a pure breed are outta their minds. They always have the most health problems.
