OUTSTANDING is the word I have to describe Dr Lisa Starr of Pets in Balance! My retired K9 partner, who we retired together and is my world, had an emergency over the holidays with extreme back pain and could not use his back leg. I was referred to Dr Starr who came within 24 hours to MY HOME!! My K9 is extremely guarded with people. Dr. Starr was calm and patient with him. He relaxed within 15 minutes. The treatments she did gave him so much relief. We are continuing to work with Dr. Starr to get my big guy feeling better again. I am so relieved to find Dr Starr who cared so much my dog and the issues he is going through !!
Dr. Starr has been treating my dogs for years and I can't speak highly enough of her care for my dogs and the emotional support given to me as an owner when faced with tough decisions about how to proceed. Her calm demeanor and genuine caring for my dogs is evident as even my dog with behavior issues responds very well to her. I highly recommend Pets in Balance and Dr Lisa Starr for providing your animals with the best of care.
Dr. Starr has taken care of several of my dogs over the course of many years, both in a clinic/hospital setting and outside of that setting. I can speak most accurately about my last dog who was a large aging tripod with significant mobility and other health challenges in her later life. Dr. Starr's excellent chiropractic and acupuncture care extended the length and quality of my dog's life. Dr. Starr was instrumental in offering equipment options for my dog, including a cart and various other helping lifts and related accessories. Dr. Starr is very well versed in both traditional and alternative medications, and was open to working with a team of caregivers to help my dog throughout her life. All of my dogs were very comfortable in her care and clearly enjoyed their treatments. Dr. Starr was very sensitive to what my dogs were telling her without words and adjusted her treatments in any session accordingly. Dr. Starr was also helpful in guiding me when it came to the end of my last dog's life, which is an equally important role of a veterinarian. I live in a far northern suburb so it was not possible for Dr. Starr to come to my home for my dog's treatments. I found two locations where I was able to bring my dog for treatment, and understood that no mobile veterinarian can drive to every patient's home to provide services. I am extremely grateful that my dogs were under Dr. Starr's care and hope that should I become a dog's guardian again in the future, that I will be fortunate enough to have Dr. Starr as that dog's caregiver.
My dogs have been seeing Dr. Starr for 9 years. She has done a wonderful job in keeping them happy and healthy through routine care, managing chronic conditions and rehabilitation. She truly cares for her patients. All of my dogs love seeing her, which tells me a lot. One will pull as hard as she can when she sees we're at the clinic to get in the door and to the exam room to see Dr. Starr. I give her my highest recommendation.
I highly recommend Dr. Starr, she is caring, knowledgable and couldn't be better with my senior kitty. I was thrilled to learn about her from a friend, as we were looking for a vet that does home visits. My cat has arthritis and receives laser and acupuncture to ease pain and making moving around easier. She has improved greatly under Dr. Starr's care. Not only is Dr. Starr great at keeping her comfortable during appointments, but she is happy to assist with ear cleanings, nail trimmings, and helps me administer meds my cat needs to be on. I would highly recommend Dr. Starr to anyone with a pet that needs home visits/care.
We had a good relationship with Dr. Lisa Starr, who provided competent, quality acupuncture and chiropractic care for our dog in our home. After we moved to a different part of the city, we wished to continue with one dog and have her start treatment for our other dog; definitely worth her time and effort financially. She refused to come to our west side home, stating "safety concerns with our neighborhood." We moved from a gentrified, overwhelmingly white neighborhood to a lower income, predominantly black neighborhood. The racism in her "safety concerns" was apparent, and became even more clear as she attempted to rationalize it by blaming the wishes of her loved ones whom one can now presume are also racist. She's good at what she does, but if you're going to pay the kind of money you'll pay for services like hers in your home, you should make an informed decision about who you're giving your money to, and if she refuses services to you, you can draw some informed conclusions about why that is.
I highly recommend Dr. Starr! She is professional and treats our dogs like they are her own. She has helped our Khloe to act like a puppy again. Thank you for all you do!!
