Fun and insightful class! Greg was very patient with us newbies for the basic skills course. Will be returning!
I took the Basics 1 course with Craig and Greg and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is interested in woodworking or anyone with some experience who wants to improve on their woodworking basics. Despite having some experience and having built a few pieces of furniture and boxes previously, I felt like I learned something during each class. Whether it was an improved order or operations or more nuanced way to use a tool, I’m looking forward to applying what I learned to future projects to make myself a more competent woodworker and make the experience of building something all that more enjoyable! I 10/10 recommend this course and any experience with Philadelphia Furniture Workshop. I’m looking forward to taking more courses in the future!
This place is mecca for the wanna be and the entirely certain they know everything already woodworker. The machines are top notch the classes are amazing, but the teachers are really why you should go. I especially am grateful for having had Mario Rodriguez teach many of the classes I took. He is rock star. There isn't a more patient or knowledgeable person you could hope to learn from. Mario especially, but all of the teachers are unflappable, charismatic and willing to step in and navigate me through the parts I'm stymied by at home. Best money I ever spent.
Craig Stevens is a knowledgeable, patient, and approachable teacher as well as an accomplished woodworker. I highly recommend taking a class at PFW and thoroughly enjoyed the bench on bench project course I took there.
I’ve taken 4 workshops here now, they are a lot of fun and quite instructive. Craig the instructor combines eastern and western woodworking traditions and techniques, and works very hard to ensure that all of the students successfully complete the projects.
I wish I could give this place 100 stars! Alan, Mario and Leslie are dedicated, talented and passionate instructors. There is such a depth of knowledge and woodworking expertise that you'd be foolish to pass up a class at PFW. So if you're looking to learn skills that will benefit you for a lifetime, build fine furniture that will be in your family for generations, or are looking for a quality, novel experience, then take a class. You wont regret it!
Thoroughly enjoyed the classes I have taken so far, and look forward to more. Learned key tips to ensure proper tool setup that has paid dividends in my hobby work and time to get it done.
Learn to make something and build skills that you can take home along with your project. Knowledgeable and skilled staff. Tools and materials supplied.
I had my great grandmother bed room see red done by then many years ago and still is perfect to this day! Highly reconnect this place for refinishing antiques, they can be trusted to care!
Wow! Great classes! The nicest and most experienced instructors you could ever get! Definetly recommend
