Ear infections are terrible. Too many children suffer from them each year, and for many children, repeat infections can last for up to a year.
So, why are ear infections so difficult to properly diagnose and treat? The tools physicians currently rely on have inherent limitations. Therefore, physicians have no choice but to diagnose and treat their patients based on the appearance of the eardrum using a dated tool that essentially is a magnifying glass with a flashlight. This method results in nearly half of all cases going misdiagnosed and, consequently, is why ear infections are leading cause of unnecessary antibiotic prescription and surgery in children.
As parents, ourselves, we couldn’t believe there wasn’t a better way for our physicians to diagnose and manage our own kids’ frequent ear infections. So we created the ClearView.
The ClearView works like ultrasound but uses light instead of sound to take a harmless and painless image of the inside of the ear. Now, for the first time, physicians can clearly view the infection inside the ear, in high-resolution. With the ClearView, it is our hope to provide a state-of-the-art tool so that kids everywhere can finally get the right diagnosis and the right treatment, the first time.
