Artisanal pies, made by hand with the best ingredients available, using locally grown fruit whenever possible---no preservatives are ever added!
Pie is simple, familiar, and humble It's memories...it's home... it's tradition...it's picking fresh blackberries and putting them in a bucket...it's ice cream melting on a piece of hot pie right out of the oven. It's something special to eat, to share, and to give as a gift because not everyone can make a great home-made pie.
Owner Marcia Mermelstein, a teacher and social worker, was lucky enough to learn how to make great home-made pies as a young girl in her mother’s kitchen. Over the years, she has perfected her craft and sold her pies at notable St. Louis eateries including: Kaldi’s Coffehouse, Parker’s Table, Ladue Market, Clayton Farmers Market, Stone Spiral Coffee & Curios, and Meshuggah’s...she was also the original pastry chef at Winslow's Home in University City.
Author Pascale Le Draoulec expresses exactly why Marcia loves to bake and sell pies---
"I've learned you really have to stop your life to make a pie. That is what makes it the ultimate gift. It is a gift of yourself. A gift of time."
