I wouldn’t recommend this place to a dead body in a bag. The nursing staff has no compassion empathy or sympathy it’s horrible here. I was recently a patient here for 12 days .The nurses sit at the nurses station and talks smack about the patients. They laugh and giggle and play. Upon being discharged my BP was 201/107 they decide to laugh and say o it’s the steroids and it’s just your anxiety because you don’t have any where to go. Madison is a charge nurse completely horrible everything is a joking matter to her . Brenda was my nurse the last day I was here she came in the room to administer me medicine and she left another patient’s medicine on the counter in my room the whole day . Brenda attitude is horrible. She doesn’t speak when entering your room. She doesn’t let you know what meds she is giving you. She discharge me after a 10 day stay and I ask her why didn’t the the doctor come to see me before I left she said o well your discharge. Well I had to wait on my ride. While waiting my blood pressure spiked. She administered me more meds and I said o what a great hospital you guys discharge me with out the doctor seeing me now my bp spikes and I have to have more meds. Brenda response was it’s not our fault you don’t have a ride but you been discharge laughs and walks out the room. Each nurse on this shift was horrible. Mockingly laughing and discussing patients business. Talking about what the case manager Jennifer has told them about patients . Laughing and joking around in the hallway disturbing sick patients. I have a whole journal of behavior of all staff members from day 1 to the day I was released . All of this info will be released to the all news stations .
I haven’t been to this hospital in years but was too sick to drive to Athens. I feel it necessary to write a positive review. I went to the ER and a wonderful male nurse, big guy with a beard I didn’t get his name but I’m sure the staff will know who I’m talking about. He was funny, we talked about my grandkids, their ages and their attitudes;. He made his procedures easier to handle with mere conversation. He was great! The Doctor couldn’t have been any better than she was. She listened and ordered test accordingly. Her name was Dr. Elizabeth Cooper! Super nice, super caring, and ran test based on my complaints and symptoms to make the proper diagnosis. Which was not what I was thinking or had even crossed my mind. I was VERY HAPPY with my visit. The lady at registration was very nice and professional. And the young lady that took me for my CT scan was nice and explained my procedure to me prior to and during the scan. She was great also. My visit was nothing like I’ve experienced in the past at this hospital that led me to going to St. Mary’s for years in the past since about 2013 I’ve used hospitals in Athens! . I’m willing to go again and hope I have the same opinion. Please give these people a raise and keep them so we feel like we can use our hometown hospital. Walton County residents give our hospital another chance, hopefully you will be as pleased as I was! There was a sign at registration that should not have to be posted at any place of employment…….demanding respect, and abuse free workplace for their employees! Come on people as adults you know not to treat people like that! That’s unacceptable to have to place a sign asking for an abuse free workplace!!! My God! Show respect or walk out the door they should not have to tolerate those working conditions! Ms. Springer
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I would never recommend this hospital to ANYONE. If I was on my death bed I would go somewhere else because you’d be dead anyways if you went here. I have seizures. When they start they get really bad and sometimes I cannot control them. All of my experiences here have been awful. This place should be known for its negligence and awful customer service. I went for seizures not to long ago and they stuck me 3 times for an IV. Blood spattered all over my clothes my arm and the sheets. The nurse laughed and said “oops”. Not only did that happen but I was in the hallway having seizures. They do not take anything seriously. Refused to give me any emergency medication to reduce or stop my episodes. After this I had hurt myself at work and my work sent me to Piedmont for X-rays. I had injured my shoulder and the doctors told me I had a bad shoulder bruise and that I needed to go to the orthopedic the next day. Well, I went to the orthopedic and they x rayed me again and low and behold I had separated my shoulder. Not only that but I ruptured my bursae in side of my shoulder. This place is a joke.
My experience with labor and delivery was great. Dr. Gamble-Webb did an amazing job delivering my baby. There’s just something about her that makes you feel calm and I never doubted her. My nurse for the majority of my stay including delivery was April and we absolutely loved her. The other nurses were mostly nice and the ones that weren’t nice wouldn’t really be considered “rude,” they just weren’t friendly. I was impressed that they did delayed cord clamping and the anesthesiologist did a great job with my epidural and she talked me through it to help me more comfortable since I was terrified. My ONLY complaint is that I was told my daughter would not have to leave the room unless she had a medical issue but for her 24 hour blood screen/hearing test a nurse came in and started to take her away and when I asked why it couldn’t be done in the room she laughed like it was just hilarious that I wouldn’t want my newborn baby out of my sight. My daughter was out of the room for 30-40 minutes getting her blood and hearing tests done and that made me very uncomfortable. She did return to me and was unharmed, but it’s just the fact that I specifically asked about her being with me at all times and then it changed that had me upset. It didn’t help that the nurse joked about showing me her name tags and things like I was being irrational to ask that my baby not leave the room. Overall, the delivery and the time leading up to it was amazing and I would highly recommend. However, if you are not comfortable with your baby leaving the room for their 24 hour testing this may not be the place for you.
I was in a horrible ATV accident on April 2nd. The staff was wonderful and caring. There was a super sweet gentleman that worked there a nurse I think he even asked me if I wanted to listen to music and turned on some music for me. He spoke to me about my injury and made me feel at ease. From the intake to my release I was treated with compassion and I appreciate the great care!
We had a wonderful experience at Piedmont Walton for labor and delivery. Dr. Gaskins did a wonderful job with my wife's c-section and the nurses were, on the whole, wonderful. Nurse Jill really stood out as an exceptional professional who made us feel cared for and comfortable. My only small suggestion is that the outside of the facility could use be picked up better. There was a lot of trash in the parking lot area. Getting that picked up would have the inside of the hospital reflect the outside.
I ended up in the ER with chest pain and being short of breath on 8/8/23. I was immediately taken back to a team of nurses and doctors moving like The Flash to take care of me. I am so thankful to each of them for the wonderful job they did. I wish I would have gotten all their names.
I was brought in by ambulance after a motorcycle wreck. “Courtney” was my nurse. She was amazing in every way. She is the standard by which all medical professionals should be judged. Everyone I dealt with was fantastic, I received quality care and even though they were extremely busy Courtney truly stood out and done an amazing job. I hope she receives the recognition she deserves! Somebody get this lady a raise or a bonus or something!!
Early Friday morning 4:00 AM, July 7th, I had to visit the ER at Piedmont Walton. Check-in was a breeze, maybe because I was the only one in the waiting room. Let me tell you, ALL the nurses were professional and courteous. I wish I had remembered my primary nurse's name Monique???, she was fantastic. A big thank you for taking care of me. James Smith
My visit this morning was 5 star from start to finish. The staff at check-in by the front door and the in-take staff were friendly and very professional. Erin did my Ultrasound. If there was a 10 star rating, she would have it. Erin was friendly, courteous, caring & extremely competent. She was the best technician I have had in my 70 years in ANY hospital ANYWHERE. Please commend her in front of her peers. She is that good! Sincerely, Philip A. Caterina Command Sergeant Major United States Army Retired
