Pier1 is a fabulous mid-to-upper scale home goods store in general. I wasn't super excited about what they had in stock at this store, and what we did buy they only had floor models of, although we very much like the lamp that we picked up. I found the retail workers attitudes to be a bit dismissive, but it is retail service after all and I can't blame them. I would definitely come back here but only if I have a 15% off coupon.
I did a buy online pick up in store and wanted to cancel it as online it said in stock but it wasn’t fulfilled for days. So when I received the confirmation email stating it was ready for pick up, I called the store to see if they could cancel it over the phone. I have done buy online pick up in store at multiple different retailers before and typically if you want them to cancel, they have the option. Well, not here. The guy needed my card information over the phone to refund me. Apparently it doesn’t auto cancel either if you don’t pick it up. I was reluctant to give my card number over the phone but did anyways because it would be too much of a hassle to go into the store. After I read my card number, the associate had an attitude and just hung up. No have a nice day? Thanks? Anything? Extremely rude
I love Pier1 and most of the employees at this store. The manager, however, is unprofessional. My husband and I ordered two nightstands but they arrived damaged. We brought them to the Lincoln Park store to return and that's when the trouble started. While my husband was unloading the nightstands, the manager said she had to inspect the pieces to see if she would let us return them. My husband explained that they arrived damaged and we proceeded into the store to process the return. Once inside, the manager actually lectured us on letting UPS ship them. It was a very odd conversation - Pier1 does not allow customers to decide the shipper like most companies...customers place an order and your purchase arrives at your door. She was curt and rude and made us feel uncomfortable. We won't be back...there are too many options to deal with unprofessional behavior - we actually went around the corner to Z Gallerie and had a great experience purchasing nightstands.
I will never set foot in your store. Your parking policy and the amount of the fine is absolutely ridiculous. The signs are hardly visible on the southeast portion of your parking lot. That said, on a Sunday in June with beautiful weather there was plenty of parking available in your lot and all around the area and in the street. The whole thing is completely unnecessary and I'm sure I'm not the only customer you've lost. Sincerely, Lost Customer Furnishing a New Place
If I could leave this 0 stars I would. My wife got her car booted by a shady, private company after SHOPPING IN THE SAME LOT. She then proceeded to watch 2 other cars get booted in 5 minutes. This shady company hides and watches customers leave their cars, then boots them. Without even regard to if they're shopping in the stores in the lot or outside of it. WONDER WHY THE LOT HAS SO MANY SPACES? Nobody parks there anymore! Boycott this place to the GROUND... if they value their customers this parking company would've been gone long ago. One of my go to stores for 25 years. Same classy, affordable merchandise. Saw a chair in the Oak Park store, got it delivered from my local Lincoln Park store. Great customer care.
Had a really wonderful interaction with the Store Manager Leonard- he was able to sort out some confusion with our online order and get us the correct items we needed. He went above and beyond to make sure we were treated well.
Bad experience. I was looking at dishes and I had asked the salesgirl a question and she then asked me if a coffee cup that had been sitting there was mine? I was nowhere near the area plus I'm not a person who needs to carry coffee around. I'm not a regular coffee drinker. I left the store and don't plan on returning there
Parked my car in the lot and walked across the street. Came back 30 SECONDS LATER and some clown came out of Pier 1 and booted my car. Was a complete jerk about it and refused to remove the boot until I paid $140. Please never support this store and the shady underhanded company they employ to enforce their parking.
Love this place always has great finds!! I live in the South side and travel to this pier1 and pay more on taxes just because it is always filled with great clearance items. Staff is pretty helpful as well
