$93 for Flat Iron Steak and Lobster. The meal was really good but the baked french onion soup tasted like dirt. The best thing about Pier 17 is the large variety of beer on tap and the view. Good for date night but not for your average dinning.
We've been here twice in recent months. The first time we had a party of 8, and the food was great. Chef John came out and introduced himself and asked how everything was. Had a great conversation with him, and looked forward to coming back in the near future to have properly cooked salmon! The second time we came with a party of three, and were told it would be a 30 minute wait, even though we had called ahead and there were more open tables than occupied. The hostess said that they only had 1 chef, and that the other was a no show, and Chef John was not there. We were meeting a friend from out of town to enjoy the food and view, so the wait with a 60% empty restaurant was disappointing. A man came out from the bar to offer excuses for the wait, so I'm not sure what his role is at this place. We were seated after mentioning we had called ahead and were expecting an out of town guest at 6:30. The service was fine, and the food was good, although not as good as our first visit. We will go again, but will make sure Chef John is there next time. I hope they get their staff issues resolved.
Just... No. Owners are cheap and don't care, chefs are unprofessional, food is mediocre at best. They were understaffed and the wait was long, for over priced, under flavored food. We asked for extra napkins and got A napkin. Someone in our party ordered the truffle fries and the food came out with plain fries, not a big deal. But instead of bringing out a new order of the correct fries, the kitchen took back the now cooled fries and seasoned them on a side plate. Of the four of us, none liked their food. The only good item was the French onion soup. The waitress was very friendly, but the lack of wait staff meant she was rushing around and missing things. Overall, not worth it. We should have taken the hint when it was empty on a Friday night, and closes at 9.
Fabulous view of the river! Felt like we had our own private table in front of a window. Service was excellent and very professional. I loved the lentil soup and the grilled salmon salad, both were delicious! My son liked his flaming bourbon steak. My son in-law thought the seafood pasta tasted like tuna helper. But other than that, we had a terrific experience and would go back again.
Took my parents here today for mother's day. Was very disappointed. We waited at least a half hour between getting our salad and getting the meal. The restaurant was not busy so no excuse for the delay. When we got our meal it was cold. The waitress never came to ask us how everything was. No explanation on why it took so long. Had to ask for bread with our meal. The food was not worth the price. I will never go back.
I would say one of the worst dining experiences we've had, but we didn't stay to eat. There were only 2 other tables of people and us. It took 15 minutes from being seated to have someone come to the table. We ordered food and drinks right away. Cocktails took 20 minutes to arrive and the sodas took another 10 minutes after that. One hour in, when we saw the first table get their food and send it back, we knew our order was at least an hour out. We left money on the table for our drinks and left. The "host" manager/owner? just said "well we're shorthanded", but we didn't see him doing anything the entire time we were there. This restaurant is a waste of a great waterview.
Food is very good, service is mediocre, the wait to receive our meal was terrible. I can not complain about the taste it was very good as it should be for the $. The service from the wait staff was not as good however. Exceptional service refills your drink without asking, good service will refill your beverage after noticing it is low and ask if you would like a refill, mediocre service will refill your beverage after you ask them for more, poor service will not be around to even ask. When you wait more than a half hour for your food, something is off in the kitchen. When you wait more than an hour, something is off with management not knowing how to adjust for kitchen concerns. We waited, from the time we placed our order, 1 hour and 10 minutes. My meal unfortunately had an additional 5 minute delay oops, another kitchen error. Proper management etiquette would have stopped by a few times to apologize for the delay and ask if there was anything we needed. Fair management etiquette would have had the server handle these affairs in a timely fashion. Poor management would have ignored the guests all together and left it to the server to fend for themselves after they observed our noticeable concern about the delay in receiving our food. We did receive one complementary drink for one guest of a party of 6 to accommodate for everyone having to wait for their meals, complements of our server. After she spoke to management to address our concerns on the delay we were told there would be no more complementary drinks for anyone else.
They are trying hard and need a little time to pull this establishment out of its nosedive. It was stated to an exiting customer, “ We just went through a management change”, something the customer doesn’t care about. Food was good, comparably priced but sadly, the menu was limited for a Friday night, no steaks!. They are effectively staffed but complacent. If this business wants to survive the entire staff must step up, own it, carry their load and effectively turn tables.
Good location with very poor service. The short version. Bad service, not great food. - Will not go back or recommend to others. Our experience: We went on Saturday for lunch. Restaurant was mostly empty with a few tables seated outside next to the water. We waited for 20 minutes after we were seated for our server to greet us and take our drink orders. We waited another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive so we can order food for out kids mind you by then there were only 2 tables other then us with customers. Menu had no kids items but waiters told us there was plenty of food that can be made for them. We ordered the same for both and she got 1 of them wrong. Once we ordered our food mine and my wife's she also got my order wrong and I had to wait for a new one to be made. Food was not very good either.
We were here for a private party, the staff was very friendly, if not exactly helpful. The food was good, but not great. For all the hype and the prices I was expecting a better experience. We have been here for dinner and also not been impressed. The food was good, but the same or better quality can be had nearby for less money. The view of the river front is nice, and the decor is okay, still on the whole very under whelming, in my opinion.
