Pier 40 at Hudson River Park

Description

Pier 40 at Hudson River Park, more commonly known as Pier 40, is a parking garage, sports facility, and former marine terminal located at the west end of Houston Street in Manhattan, New York City, within Hudson River Park. It is home to the New York Knights of the American National Rugby League (ANRL), though it is primarily used by youth and high school athletics. The pier is the largest structure in Hudson River Park at over 14 acres in size, and is the home to the Hudson River Park Trust's offices. Various park tenants host activities as well. Sports include baseball, football, soccer, kayaking, rowing, trapeze arts, and rugby among others.HistoryPrior to the construction of Pier 40, five city-owned "finger" piers were located at the site. These were from south-to-north Pier 37 (at Charlton Street), Pier 38 (at King Street), Pier 39 (at West Houston Street), Pier 40 (at Clarkson Street), and Pier 41 (at Leroy Street). Companies using the piers in the early 20th Century included the Southern Pacific Transportation Company, the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (DL&W), and the Atlantic Transport Line. By the 1950s, the piers were used by the DL&W and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

A soccer game at Pier 40 is not just about the sport. It's an urban symphony where the pounding rhythm of soccer boots meets the serenity of a New York skyline backdrop. Nestled in the heart of downtown Manhattan, Pier 40 combines the thrill of the game with unbeatable views of the World Trade Center, making it a memorable sporting experience. The turf at Pier 40 is commendably maintained, providing a nice, even playing surface that every soccer enthusiast will appreciate. Whether you're engaging in a competitive match or simply kicking the ball around with friends, the field is ideal for a variety of soccer exploits. Perhaps the most significant feature of Pier 40 is its spectacular view. The sight of the majestic World Trade Center towering over the city skyline offers a unique backdrop to the field, making every game here a picture-perfect event. Another perk that Pier 40 provides is its availability of parking - a rare luxury in the bustling city of Manhattan. This added convenience makes planning your games here even more appealing, saving you from the often stressful search for street parking. However, the Pier 40 experience isn't without its downsides. The facilities, namely the bathrooms and vending machines, need some serious TLC. The bathroom facilities seem to have been stuck in the past and could use a facelift and regular maintenance checks. As for the vending machines, they often seem to have a mind of their own, sometimes denying you that much-needed post-match snack. Despite these minor hiccups, Pier 40 remains a hidden gem for soccer lovers. Its urban charm, fantastic turf, and stunning views make it a unique sporting venue that captures the spirit of Manhattan. With some attention to its amenities, Pier 40 has the potential to be an unmatched urban soccer haven. In conclusion, if you love the beautiful game and aren't too picky about post-match conveniences, Pier 40 is the place to be. After all, where else can you score a goal with the World Trade Center as your witness?
Saw Dixon live on a boat party. Gotta say the yacht itself was enormous. Vibe was 100!! I would definitely come back here for another DJ set.
Need a Date Night? Highly recommend dinner cruise on the Cornucopia..This 3 hour dinner cruise is worth every penny and than some! We were greeted by the boat staff with a smile and a Enjoy the Night... which we did, OMG did we ever!! The host seated us at our table because we got there early we were able to pick out our seats.. facing the windows. The dinner was a buffet style. The dinner served would have taken hours to serve everyone Dinner was fabulous! You think a buffet would be bland and just ordinary food...Nope, not this one!! I wish I would have taken a picture of the actually setup of the buffet but I did take a pic of what was served on my plate..it looks like alot but I only sampled a little bit and didn't get everything...see pic As we were eating, the boat pushed off from the dock and the sun was setting for the night! The weather was perfect, the staff was phenomenal and the cruise was a memory that will not be soon forgotten.

Soccer fields could be in better shape, but the city views are great. Restrooms: Located in the first floor
Best place I’ve ever played footy
They over charge, very expensive and strangers that don’t belong there always walking through parking garage checking out cars and people always smoking weed in parking garage it smells like dead skunk everyday
I am not sure if this is the correct company to leave my review so I would appreciate a response as soon as possible so that I can contact the proper persons. This morning, I left for a boat ride on the Infinity Hornblower.. Prior to boarding, there was a security check and the guard was a bit rough with the “pat down” but most importantly , she made me toss away prescription medications that I take daily at a certain time for a complicated medical condition. This is beyond infuriating because it was in a medication pillbox and I don’t even experience this issue when at TSA checkpoints to board an airplane. This issue will be brought to the attention of the Security company as well as the Cruiseline.
It was a great experience! We took a freestyle yacht party boat! It was a blast!! Glad I experienced it!! Restrooms: No lines
