They are not there for the kids, only there to make money. If you want to bring a child there to practice shooting hoops good luck, adults on court 1-2 courts may get court 3 if you are lucky, court 4 taking over by a trainer sometimes. All this if leagues are not going on. Kids also need a place to play/stay out of trouble from 8-10 at night on weekends.
Great place to work out i.e. lift weight, walk/run on treadmills, walk/jog on walking track, a lot of great exercise equipment. Also a great place to play different sports, such as basketball they have 2 full size indoor basketball courts, indoor tennis, racquetball, and volleyball are the ones I can think of...nice too that they're all indoors, considering winter's just around the corner. Now they're open 24/7, you just have to pay $15 extra, I think, for a fob for your keys to get access inside after their normal closing times, and you'll have access to both weight rooms down stairs.
I usually like the YMCA but today I been searching around about some information on Girl Scouts for a friends. So I called the YMCA because I saw on Facebook they did events with the Girl Scouts. A woman answered the phone and I said “Hello! I saw you all did some stuff with the Girl Scouts in the past and I was wondering if you had their number?” But before I could even finished she got angry and said “We have never worked with the Girl Scouts!” And I said okay even though I had just seen that they had. So I asked “Would you happen to know of anyone who does programs with them or might have their number like maybe the extension office?” And again before I could even finish she went “I SAID NO! “ and hung up! That is by far the worst experience on the phone I’ve had in a long time. And it was completely unprofessional! We were going to sign up for a family membership in February but I think we’ll go with a private gym if that’s how they treat people with questions.
Best gym I’ve found, staff is friendly and has the best equipment.
Not a big fan of the place. As a local recruiter, we are assigned a gym that the army pays for. You guessed it, this is the place we are authorized to go. Normally I wouldn't care, but I really dont like this place. The staff are not very friendly and give off a bad vibe. There is no swimming pool, which for me kind of defeats the purpose of going to a public gym. In addition to that there are religious quotes posted all over the place which I don't care for. I have nothing against religion, but I dont need jesus advertising where I'm trying to work out. Especially not in an establishment thats a pay to play. Very tacky. As for workout equipment, its all very well used and greatly outdated.
My name is Dee Chapman and I have been going to the Pikeville Ky YMCA off and on for the past 23 years. Staff are super friendly. They have plenty of group fitness to offer. For those complaining of them not having a pool, the city just approved for an indoor pool which they have already started on. They have raquetball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, lockers, showers, walking track, Cardio room with all the latest elliptical, bikes, treadmill, rowing machines, stair stepper, weight room and also weight room for women older upstairs, they offer Zumba, HIIT, Step, Yoga, Kick boxing, weight training and much much more. The instructors are completely certified and well trained, very supportive, and encouraging. They make our work outs exciting and fun. As for the young man who was offended by the Christian quotes hanging on the wall on the 2nd floor. The YMCA stands for Young Mens Christian Association and they do not tolerate profanity, bad sportsmanship/conduct or violence but rather encourage team work, team spirit and encouragement for one another. IS THAT SO BAD. And those quotes actually help many people to keep going, not only strengthening their physical body but also their spiritual body. If you are offended, then don't look but those quotes do not interfere with your ability perform. Just my opinion. I love the YMCA, I have lost 90 pounds with improved health because of them.
Nice clean place to go lift weights, play basketball, racquet ball, and nice people run the place. Also they are installing a new swimming pool in 2019-2020
Great place to visit however, Tennis court was in bad shape. Floor was made with some sort of ceramic square tiles and some were broken.
This facility is clean and has a lot to offer. 2 basketball courts, 1 tennis court, weight room, walking track, cardio room, and a daycare center.
I love the ymca it help get back in shape and I love the people they are nice god bless each and everyone of you thanks so much
