The Public Interest Law Organization (PILO) promotes Wake Forest School of Law’s tradition of training lawyers who serve not only their clients, but also their communities. PILO holds a program in the fall in conjunction with the Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD), that serves to increase students’ awareness of the various career paths available in public interest law. Each year we bring in exciting and successful attorney speakers that work in different areas of public interest, ranging from criminal law to education and civil rights. In addition, throughout the year we host multiple fundraising events that help us raise money for Professor Hopkins Humanitate Grants, which are awarded to dedicated Wake Law students who spend their summers working at unpaid public interest internships.
