Perfect little campground when heading towards Yellowstone. We arrived at night, hoping to find an empty spot and there were multiple....greeted by lots of deer when we woke up in the morning.
If you like nice out of the way camp grounds, this is a good place. Miles off the highway on a single lane paved road. I took a 19 foot 5th wheel camper in. There is one tight switch back to navigate and is interesting if you meet someone coming the other way. Very quiet.
Neighbors 4 cars in two spots had no concept on how noise carries. They were playing music from their car and with instruments. Site is great, up a long, paved windy one lane road. Directions on website aren’t right. Just watch for signs. Not six miles on dirt road. Turn left to get to city after dirt road. Great path by creek.
Lovely forest service campground near Livingston, yet remote. Road into campground was single lane, but two-way traffic. So drive carefully. Probably best to not take big RVs and trailers up this road. Sites were well spaced. Some reservable, others first come. Good system of tagging sites that are available for a night or two. We had site 16 near a little creek and meadow. Vault toilets were very clean and didn’t smell bad. Toilet paper plentiful. Hosts are doing a great job here. Thanks!
Steeper and longer to the waterfall than I thought. But, so worth the effort.
The campground was easy to get to, with a fully paved road. Limited service at the campground, but did get a couple messages in and out for others joining. Moderately well spaced out sites. It's only a mile to the waterfalls.
This campground is beautiful. Feels very remote but it’s really close to town. Sites aren’t completely private but you still feel like you have your own space.
We camped in loop A, number 5, for 4 days from August 24 thru 28. This is the most scenic location we have ever camped. The trailhead to Pine Creek Falls is in the campground and it is a beautiful walk. We were there for a wedding at the adjacent Luccock Park Church Camp and it was an easy walk down to the wedding site, photo included. The campsite hosts were very pleasant when they came by to warn us about the bears smelling cooking orders if we were to use our grill. However, a warning. We were towing a small car behind our 34 foot class A motorhome. The road up to the camp is about 2.8 miles from the highway along the Yellowstone River and it is very steep and narrow. There are a few pull offs but it was a white knuckle driving experience going up....coming down was easier. With a smaller camper this is a world class camping site
Our family had a wonderful 2 nights tent camping here while in Montana. The creek was very close for casual messing around, and there are a few great trails you can walk. We hiked the trail to the Pine Creek Falls, and though we felt it was a challenging hike for us as not exceptionally active people, we all made it in about 3 hours round trip from our camp site, including a lot of time exploring the falls. We saw a variety of wildlife both in our campground and while hiking. Mountain lions and bears are occasional visitors here, bring your bear spray and hike with at least 1 partner. Vault toilets were some of the nicest and best maintained I've seen. My son, who normally complains about them, never made an issue about using them.
A beautiful treat in the wintertime. The piled high snow in the lot may be difficult for some vehicles, but parking further down can help. The outhouse was also open in the middle of December, which is a plus.
