Pine Grove Furnace State Park

This park stretches along PA State Route 233 for several miles, and there are plenty of options of what to do here. Camping is big, and there is a free lake - with a beach to swim at. The old iron works and the Iron Masters's mansion stand out as landmarks.This is a really good place for a picnic, and great for walking your dog and hiking. The Appalachian Trail runs right through the park, and part of the trail here is actually paved, so you may include older, infirm ones, or wheelchairs can move easily on this end of the hike. I liked that. There is a parking lot for those who are hiking deeper into the trail. Park here- and you can start hiking up the ridge. Sop by the State Park Visitor's Center for maps and there is a nice display room here to that tells the story of this important early industrial site. Playground: Plenty of things for kids to do at this park. Dog-friendliness: Great place to walk your dogs! Picnic area: Many nice spots for a picnic here.

The group camping area was plenty big and grassy and had four individual family bathrooms. There was some shade but not a lot. Plenty of parking. The history is interesting with lots of explanation. Two lakes. Bigger one is shallow and smaller is the former mine, so drops off steeply. The parking gets full on a summer weekend! The hike from Fuller lake up to the lookout is good, even for young children. If you really want adventure, check out Hammond Rocks marked on Google Maps, which you can drive right to: very fun! Playground: No playground, but check out Hammond Rocks nearby! Restrooms: Good restrooms

Beautiful park to bring family, young children. Well maintained beach at Fuller Lake, great spot to picnic & let kids fish. Hiking trails. Change room & restrooms. Snack bar in season. Playground. Dog friendly leashed in public use areas but pets not allowed on beach.

Laurel Lake is always a great place to go to relax and get away for my family and I. It is always clean there and it wasn't too crowded. Sometimes, depending on the day it can be crowded, but other than that it's pretty chill. The bathrooms are clean and the showers work great. It is a very diverse crowd and everyone is usually friendly and speaks to you. The lake water is always very cold, even on really hot days. The park doesn't tolerate mess of any kind and people clean up after themselves before they leave. They have grills for you to cookout and also picnic tables to sit at. It is dog friendly, but they stop allowing them in the beach area. Playground: Small little play area, not a really big deal. Restrooms: Very Clean, and has showers and lockers. Picnic area: They're everywhere in the park and it even has a pavilion for small gatherings like Birthdays, Family Reunions etc. I do believe you'll have to reserve for that spot.

I've visited twice so far and it's a lovely place. The lake is fun to swim in and their campground wasn't bad. The restrooms are some of the cleanest I've seen at any park. I fully intend to camp here again, hopefully in the summer. Shout out to Melissa Capuano. She is so friendly, helpful, and above and beyond. Restrooms: The cleanest I've ever seen!

Awesome state park with two lakes with swimming areas, loads of hiking, including the halfway point on the Appalachian Trail in neighboring Michaux State Forest. 50/30 amp hookup and large fresh water fill area make rv'ing a breeze. Clean, remodeled bath houses. Make sure to take the short drive to see Hammond's Rocks. Amazing!

Absolutely beautiful park to bring the kids to have a family outing. Tons of spots to set up and cook out. They have a nice beach area for the kiddos to play in the water.

Pictures are from both Fuller and Laurel Lakes. On a Thursday, both concession stands were open. I will say the prices are a tad higher at Fuller lake, but the food is a tad better. Laurel Lake had an accessibility ramp to get into the water. Restrooms: Restrooms were clean on a Thursday. Picnic area: Lot's of places to picnic and charcoal grills were available.

Lovely lake to kayak around in. Can't get too far as a tree is down and not everyone can get under it. Otherwise beautiful ans relaxing
