Our mission is to provide a sacred environment for Contemplation, Meditation, Mindfulness & Zen Training, for cultivating a deeper Spirituality.
The Center For Spirituality & Contemplation, (Pine Wind Zen Community) founded in 1985 by Seijaku Roshi, is a diverse community of Zen monks supported by men and women of all walks of life wishing to experience authentic spiritual training. We offer both traditional and innovative ways to engage Authentic Spirituality through our public programs and retreats. We are inspired by contemplative traditions including the teachings of the Buddhadharma, the Rule of Saint Benedict, the mystical Torah, and the Gospels.
We hope to live and share the Dharma (Teachings) of Loving-Kindness and Compassion as conveyed to us by our founder and other spiritual teachers, offering the world new forms of kinship and love.
Whether you come for a Wednesday Evening Class, a seminar, or a one-day or half day, or weekend retreat, you will have the opportunity to experience the Monastery's cloister - a dynamic integrated spiritual community and a place to encounter your own inner silence, wisdom, and compassion.
PWZC is home to Seijaku Roshi, Abbot and Founder of The Zen Society, a 501c3 non-profit organization NJ 1985, and the main house of The Order of the Great Lights.
"Community is the spirit, the guiding light, whereby people come together to fulfill a purpose,
to help others fulfill their purpose, and to take care of one another."
Our Vision focuses on the integration of Living a Zen-Inspired Life; Community; Service, prayer, and contemplation, providing an environment or context for training the mind (monastic spirit); integrated Zen studies; diversity; cultivating authentic spirituality; promoting global awareness of the unity of the human society and the natural world, and personal responsibility.
Jizo-an/Pine Wind realizes its vision by being a refuge to to all who come through its temple doors, offering an alternative vision for Living a Meaningful Life, that meets the needs of people, society, and the environment.
Our Mission is to support a sincere and dedicated practice community of lay persons and monks; to serve others by providing training; retreats; and programs for social and individual transformation, welcoming diversity and ecumenical dialogue.
