Pioneer Community Food Bank

About

The Pioneer Community Food Bank is open every third Thursday of the month in the Pioneer Middle School cafeteria.

Description

Our mission is to provide healthful, “whole” foods to residents in the Pioneer School District in need of food. Given the strong correlation between poverty and overweight/obesity, providing nutritious and unrefined foods to clients is an important step to improve health in our community. We can do better than ramen!

Also, we are excited to implement the "Commodities into Meals" program this year, which will teach clients of the Pioneer Food Bank to prepare meals based on bulk foods and government commodities utilizing slow-cookers. We will feature new recipes each month and the Food $ense nutrition educators will be on hand to give out samples of the recipes. Please let us know if you have a Crock-Pot or slow cooker to donate to the new program.

Thank you to Mason Matters, the Bridge Community Church, the Mason County Democratic Party, Saints' Pantry Food Bank, and all of our wonderful volunteers for making the the PCFB possible!

They seem to do good work but the driver of a transit van pulled out in front of me this evening on hwy 3 when they could clearly see me coming. I had to hit my brakes and the driver maybe middle aged latino woman? had the nerve to flip me off. That's not a good look for a company
Best group of volunteers I've met in many years! Made me feel like I was just borrowing from grandma's home. It was the first time I had ever needed help of that magnitude . They did not shame me or make me feel less than. The have deep desire to help others and it showed in the way they interacted with the customer.
Always super friendly volunteers and really decent food. They are doing great work to help the community.
Ma is on a limited income and she's 98, so I pick up for her here. I'm shocked at the amount of good, organic food they offer! There were so many goodies I could barely carry it all out: spiral-cut ham, MANY options for fresh fruits and veggies, prepared avocado dip, baking mixes, about 10 different options for breads, desserts, yogurt, eggs... What an amazing resource for the disadvantaged members of our community! Thank All Y'all, volunteers and businesses alike for making this work! Merry Christmas!
A good service to help people in our community who can't quite make ends meet. Staffed by friendly volunteers, offers both fresh and had stable foods that can be chosen by customers within parameters. We've seen other pantries that offer more food and a greater variety, but what is received is a blessing to be grateful for.
Although they give you plenty to eat they tend to hold back allot. This only makes old food, depending on what food, that tends to make it inedible. Other than that they are doing the greatest service to the community. I thank those volunteers for being there
Altho I very much appriciate the service they offer. The people who hand out food here are generally unpleasent. Not all of them but there are enough that find being a snobby unkind person that almost everytime I go, I wish I hadnt. Maybe it is just my personal beleif that everyone deserves respect, even someone who is down on their luck, or stuggling. Maybe thats weird. But I do really think they should rethink their customer service policey just a little
The people are so nice here. They all are volunteers. If you would like to help in any way it would be great. Donations of stuff are welcome. Every week on Tuesday or Wednesday you can get a box of food to help with meals during the week. You pick what you want no food goes to waist take only what you'll use every thing is limited to family size and amounts they have. In a different part of the building down on the corner It's also has a clothing bank that has some households, bedding and other items if you ask the people that volunteer there they can help you with what you need. All donations go to help people in our community that are in need.
Much improved over the past.
In a time of crisis they are great when you need some food stuffs. Open on Tuesdays 9:30am-11:30 and second and fourth Thursdays. I don't remember the exact times but you can check them out online.
