About

The Arizona Historical Society's mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and share the history of Arizona and the West.

Description

Arizona Historical Society PIONEER MUSEUM

Between 1908 and 1938, the Coconino County Hospital for the Indigent housed and cared for the county’s poor and sick. Today the Hospital building serves as the primary museum for the Northern Division of the Arizona Historical Society, dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Flagstaff and Northern Arizona. The museum features exhibits on the historical development of the region, a look at early livestock ranching, homesteading, and lumbering, as well as other changing exhibits. Highlights include an iron lung, a tortilla making machine, a Baldwin articulated locomotive, and a Santa Fe RR caboose.
