Absolutely amazing guided tours on kayak with a very knowledgeable and personable guide named Bill. We were all first timers. Younger guys but with our mother who is terrified of the Ocean. I'm not too keen either, but when I tell you that Bill made every single step as beginner friendly and easy to manage as possible. Yes, there are times when things can feel a little scary no one wants to capsize. But it's a very real chance. What no one expects is that there is an awesome professional right at your side giving you clear, detailed, and calm instructions on getting back on the kayak. Bill could put the most traumatized thalassiophobe at ease. I say that from first hand experience because I was never planning to go kayaking and now I want a kayak. Stunning sights and beautiful caves, you'll also see seals lounging about and kelp forests that are truly mystical to paddle through. Whether you're an avid ocean enjoyer or someone completely terrified like me, you will absolutely have an extremely memorable experience. You may even get some exposure therapy to help with fear of water like me, I can't wait to get back in the water! Truly a must do experience, and I have nothing but the utmost praise for Bill and anyone within the Pismo beach surf shop. Thank you for an amazing day! Can't wait to return.
What an awesome experience we had sea kayaking with Bill! We saw seals and otters and got to kayak through the caves. My husband even got to “swim”!
Bill and Jacob’s EXCELLENT adventure Bill’s shop provided essential waterproofing including booties and wet suits socks and pants not recommended underneath. The hardest part of preparing was carrying the tandem kayak down the flight of stairs from the street but once in the water it was smooth sailing around and through Dinosaur Caves we saw many different birds and even spotted a seal!! Far outside my comfort zone of traditional city boy but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Bill took my son and I kayaking this morning. He is kind and patient. We had a wonderful time. So serene on the water.
Great find, well worth a visit. Something for everyone. Bill has things you never knew you needed, besides bikes & boards.
Quite the menagerie inside the store, very kind man running the shop with his boys, and surf kitty cat. Be aware that If you do not book a tour and just a kayak you may be responsible for transporting it yourself
Bill is such a character! We met him randomly while we were visiting Adas’s Fish House and decided to check out the surf shop property. We got to talking and he mentioned that there were some caves that you can explore via kayak in Pismo. As someone that has been to Pismo multiple times, I had no idea this was even a thing. He peaked our interest and the group I was with thought about it the rest of the day as a possible excursion. Then we ran into him the next day! He was just as friendly as the first meeting and he truly is such a great person. After that, we figured it was fate and our group of 6 people decided it would be fun to try it out. This was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, it was so much fun! Although Bill did not come with us, Noah and Tristan took care of us and guided us through the caves and they were great tour guides. We got to go on beaches inaccessible by foot that are recessed into the cliffside and it was awesome. We also saw plenty of wildlife like sea lions and even a pod of dolphins hunting fish! Bill said I could bring my fishing rod with a valid license, but I forgot it unfortunately : BE WARNED: You will need to put on a wetsuit, the water will probably be cold no matter the season, and it is fairly treacherous. There is a very real possibility of falling into the water or getting smashed against a rock, but our group was fine and Noah and Tristan did a great job helping us maneuver through the caves and ocean. You also have life jackets on and they teach you what to do if you do fall out. As a disclaimer, the tide can play a part in what caves are accessible so you might want to call ahead of time and ask when the tide would be best for the tour. In some instances, the tide was too low for us to explore some of the caves. Also the caves are not what you would think, they are more of a series of archways and recessed areas in the cliffside. So don’t expect to kayak into a winding cave that goes into the cliffside, that’s not what it is! If you google “Dinosaur Caves Park Pismo” it will give you an idea of what they look like. Either way, I highly recommend this excursion and if you are in Pismo this should definitely be one of the things you do it was AMAZING!!!
Randy have is awesome. Helped us rent surfboards & wetsuits for the day. He was super helpful. Definitely recommend them and renting from them again
Rented a 4 seat bike for my family and Bill really take care of us. He explained to us how it works with patience and was really nice. I highly recommend it, check them out
My son has purchased crystals and fossils from the store before, never had any issues. Purchased a megalodon tooth there yesterday, guy quoted $275 at case but rang up at $350 at register. Feels shady to be quoted one price and let us decide to purchase and then a different amount quietly rang up at the register. Watch out for this if you are making any kind of significant purchase there.
