Absolutely a beautiful and wonderful place to go visit. We go every year and have stayed in most of the housing they have to offer. Horse back riding is a great thing to do. The girls at the stables are so sweet and caring. They take time to tell you about the horses and the property. Paddle boats are fun. A great workout. Waterfall and streams to walk through. Hiking nature trails, a wonderful park for the kiddos, look out towers, splash pad, archery if you want to shoot at something. You become one with the nature when you see the deer run in the forest, bald eagles soar over head, owls in the trees. I could go on and on... Best place at least on my top 3 for sure.
Omg why didn't we know about this park sooner??? This place is Beautiful We got asked to travel to this spot for a family photoshoot at the falls. Thankfully this family is very outdoorsy and knew the area - so we took a little hike around around the waters edge, up the hills by the old tent camping pads, and overlooking the Platte river. I'm not writing this place off for camping, and I'm curious about cabin rentals or summer time activities! Will definitely recommend this place for next year's photo shoots. Playground: Adorable and ada friendly playground area, plus many options even adults can be on! Restrooms: Quite a few restrooms even close to the hiking trails! Dog-friendliness: Saw a sign for a dog park but must be on leashes in natural open areas Picnic area: Several picnic locations near near the playground and in concessions area, I think it was also a lake for Game & Park's canoing.
We absolutely loved this park! Great overlook tower to visit. The teepee were fun to check out. Huuuuge playground with tons of options, even a zip line. The splash pad was excellent as well. We really enjoyed the short hike out to some of the falls too. Small hike, but doable for a 5 and a 6 year old. Looks like there are plenty of cabin options as well. Pretty decent 30 minute drive from omaha. We will definitely be visiting again, kids had a blast. Playground: Huge playground! Multiple sections for bigger or little kids. Zip line was awesome but one of them was broken at the time of our visit. Restrooms: Restrooms at the splash pad were pretty standard. Changing room and showers available. Picnic area: Tons of areas to choose from for picnics.
Our first trip to Platte River State Park was great! We hiked to the falls and then around the woods for about two hours! The trails were still a bit icy but it was quiet and peaceful and just what I needed! The falls were frozen but still beautiful! Looks like a fun place to be in the summer too.
Beautiful State park found 50 km away from Lincoln. You can see nice panoramic view when you get into tower. We observe herd of White tailed deer close to wild strawberry houses. Entrance fee 6 USD per car. 22/10/2022
We shot a wedding here 6/17/2022. This venue was a beautiful all in one venue. -Venue Time constraints wouldn't allow for an elaborate design or buildout, but we were able to set everything up in time. -park has perfect pond to take wedding photos around. -The cute ceremony location in the woods is a wonderful vibe. Bring a battery powered speaker and mic. No restrictions. -Park has a small waterfall if you want to hike 10 minutes into the woods. -can rent cabin for guest to stay on location. -reception venue can hold a cool 150ppl -plenty of natural light all around. -great back deck and lookout good for isolated first looks, portraits, or letter readings.
I needed to get some steps in for the day, so a short drive and $6 got me to Platte Rover State Park for a few hours. The weather was perfect and the company could not be beat, so we explored. We spotted a few not-so-hidden treasures along the path which I have included in the pics and video. After the walk, we toured through the rest of the park by car and decided we need to come back after the leaves are all back on the trees. Whether you think the falls are small or not, the almost constant soothing sound of the gurgling, babbling water of the stream is great. Dog-friendliness: There is a Fido Freedom park with an obstacle course near the RV campground.
Ive been coming here for years to go hiking. I love it! My only "complaint" is that the last couple of years it's been becoming more popular, so it can be hard to find peace when you're wanting a nice quiet hike.
A fun State Park with lots of trails to hike or bike, plus many other activities including a large splash pad. We could easily spend days here enjoying everything there is too offer. One thing to note is that the trails are not well marked which can make it hard to figure out where you are. Cell phone coverage can also be spotty in some areas. The Alltrails app was a big help in some trickier areas with lots of intersecting paths.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hike to the small falls. Dogs enjoyed the well groomed paths and us humans enjoyed being pulled. Always look for a good dog friendlybplace and this is it. Parking is the worst part of this venture, however if you happen to have time, definitely stop and see the falls.
