Description

Plum Street Café
Est. 1984

After running two successful nightclubs in the seventies, Michael Crowe decided to open a neighborhood bar in downtown Cincinnati. In 1983 he began renovations of Plum Street Café. The building, built in 1876, features a unique u-shaped bar made out of an old bowling alley and a wood ceiling. In 1984, the doors opened and Plum Street quickly became a place where everyone is welcomed and you could get a good drink at a fair price.

Over the years Plum Street Cafe has seen the city go thru many changes, from the building of the convention center and construction of paul brown stadium to the Reds1990 world series sweep and shared these events with our loyal guests.

30 years later his children run the family business staying true to their dad’s vision. On behalf of Crowe family, we hope you enjoyed your visit to this special place.

I had a great lunch at the Plum street bar and café. I was surprised to find myself completely alone, even though it's right across from the Duke Energy Convention Center. Great place for a quick bite. The menu is small, but the chili is good.
Wandered in from function at the convention center, they were busy but we got 2 seats easily at the bar.. only to find a frantic bartender slinging a slur of obscenities bc some poor soul had “the audacity “ to order an old fashioned… instead of a simple beer… he was so far buried he never addressed us … and an old fashioned indeed did have my name on it.. so we left, moral of this tale of woe.. hire a bartender that enjoys his craft and doesn’t loose his cool in a slight rush.
Always a friendly face behind the bar and the same goes for the regular customers. A great place for a drink or few and to grab a quick bite like a burger and chips. They have good beer on tap and cheap prices. It's definitely worth hanging out for awhile, even if you're on the way somewhere else. It's located across from the Duke Energy Center just off 5th Street, a couple blocks west of Fountain Square.
Looking for a place to eat closer to the Comic Expo going on this weekend in Cincinnati, seem like a great place from the outside, the building seems like part of the city attractions for photographers. Hard to tell which one was the entrance for this Restaurant/Bar. When we finally found a way in, we were told to choose any seat at our convenience. The server seems friendly in the beginning but disappointed when she seems too busy to ask for a refill, I asked her which sub was the best one. Her recommendation wasn't of my liking but I finish until the last bite. The place can do better. Seems like they weren't prepared for rush due to the expo and service was a bit disappointed for a city as Cincinnati. Overall the place has nice location and definitely think can do better in the future.
My husband went in here for a pop to go as he was working near there. The lady was SO RUDE over him trying to use a CC, as he had no cash, that he offered to buy another customer a beer just to make it worth the CC charge for them. She was still mean and disgusting that another customer decided to pay for his pop. She slammed his CC down and kept up the attitude!!
Came in,sat at a table. then at the bar. Waited 15 min… no one ever acknowledge Us. When we left no one said anything. Will not ever go in there again. Must only adhere to the neighborhood
Great Neighborhood bar where the regulars stop in for lunch or a drink. Nice pre-game bar right near the Convention Center and Payor Stadium.Food: 5/5
Might be the best chili in the city. The cook and the waitress are always very nice and take good care of everyone.
The nicest people ever. Even gave us a ride to our next destination. Thanks for a great Anniversary.
It's a simple hole in the wall bar. Nothing fancy about it. Bartender is really nice and can set you up with just about anything expected. I drove 5 hours for a business trip and stopped here, so anything was considered amazing to me. I ordered a cheeseburger for $10 with your traditional fixings- if I wasn't mentally drained, it wouldn't have been worth it. If you come here, go for the drinks and the conversations, and you'll be good.
