If I could give this agency a 0 I would give them two zeros instead of one. My daughter was rear-ended on 285. She called 911 and was told it would be 3-4 hours before an officer could come to the scene. Mind you it’s after 7pm and the person who hit her is a guy. She takes pictures and gets the other driver’s info before he tries to drive off. She drives straight to Northside Hospital since she was less than 7or 8 minutes away. She calls Sandy Springs 911 back and they tell her an officer is coming to the hospital. When the cop gets there he tells her it’s nothing he can do. He said she should have waited for an officer at the accident scene. Remember the 911 operator said his ETA was 3-4 hours. I mean come on. Other police I know say he could have taken a report. No one calls the cops for fun. We call because we need help. We just wanted an official record of what happened. Then they wonder why so many people have such a low opinion of police.
Called the non-emergency department, and they forwarded me to someone who apparently does 911 calls. They actually cover 4 jurisdictions, not just one, and the woman who answered was unbelievably rude and condescending to a couple of requests I had for important info. I still don’t know where to find the answers to my questions. Very unprofessional.
I was locked out of my house for an hour and had no way of getting in. A very kind Police Officer, Badge 351 was in the neighborhood assisting with a morning prowler call and was more than helpful! He worked on my door to let me in. It just goes to show you that Sandy Springs hires only the best! Thank you!
Officer Richardson, Badge #365, responded to a domestic call September 30, 2022. Ofc. Richardson was most helpful and called me to follow-up. Thank her for me!!
I called for help getting a hold of the tag office because the online phone numbers have all been disconnected. I was told to look it up. I believe this falls under the "serve" part of serve and protect.
I want to know why two Sandy springs officers were flying a drone over the southbound lanes of 400 @10:30 this morning in the area of exits 5&6. Maybe 30 feet above the lanes. It's kind of a distraction and dangerous to the drivers I would imagine.
Staff have no set time when they close. Property department needs to be re-evaluated due to me driving 2 hours away to pick up property just to be told “she left early because she came in early” even though I called ahead and they don’t close until 5 very unprofessional and unorganized knowing they have citizens property
Best police department in the whole state. I see a whole host of bad. Reviews. To those reviewers Stop breaking the law and you will see how much of a positive impact they make on the city. If you still don’t agree then move back to Atlanta with apd as your lifeline
About a year ago today I had an accident where I accidentally bumped the rear end of another car at a traffic stop. Me and the other driver moved to the side of the road to not block traffic. The other driver had called Sandy Springs police. It was hot and my daughter was with me. She was crying and I was consoling her. About 15 minutes had passed and a Sandy Springs police car drove up. He apologized that the assigned officer was running late. To my recollection, the officer offered the other driver and I some cold bottled water that they just happened to have in their cooler while we waited. The other driver and I thanked the officer and respectfully declined the water. They drove off. Five minutes later the police officer that was assigned to our accident arrived. The officer asked me what happened and during that time my 6 year old daughter was crying and pleading with the officer to not take me to jail. The officer kneeled down and told her that this was not going to happen and she stopped crying. I admitted that it was my fault. I thought that the other driver was going to proceed through the yellow light but he stopped and I was going to fast and that’s when I rear ended the other car. The other driver was not hurt but her had a big scratch on his bumper. In the front of my SUV it was dented and there was a little smoke coming from the engine. The officer listened to me as I apologized profusely. To my surprise, I was given a warning. The officer asked me if I needed a tow truck. I said no and that I will just drive the car to the dealership and have them work on the SUV for me. The officer looked at me in a very concerned way and said if I cannot make it to the dealership call the SPPD and we will send out a tow truck. I have never forgotten the experience. When the officer gave me a warning, it had more of a profound impact than giving me a ticket. My friends say that Sandy Springs has too many cops around. I disagree. I have never felt more safe and secure.
You know cops have bad days and good like all people. I got pulled over the other night. I was sick and had a very long day. The officer was very quick with my warning Ticket and very understanding. Probably the fastest traffic stop I have ever been involved in. To this location my I have met quite a few officers from sandy springs and all have been professional and well mannered. Thank you for your service
