Why Study Political Science at CWU?
The Political Science Department prides itself on its accessibility and its cultivation of student academic development. In particular, the Department at Central provides the student the advantage of being small enough, in terms of both faculty and class size, for students to receive direct attention and interaction with their professors, while at the same time, large enough to offer a range of different options within the sub-fields of political science. All classes are taught by professors, usually full-time, regular faculty, rather than graduate teaching assistants like at some schools, though adjunct instructors with particular expertise are utilized in some instances. Some students even pursue research projects under the direction of faculty.
The Department of Political Science believes that its primary purpose is to pursue knowledge and understanding of the political aspects of the human endeavor; to transmit this knowledge to others; to relate this knowledge to the real world in creative, critical, and constructive ways; and to encourage through pedagogical means a real interest in politics.
