Polk County Sheriff's Office Northeast Substation

I was hit by some guy driving erratically & harassing others before he hit me. I had my little boy in the car too. When he hit me we were both so scared & my baby was crying. I called 911 for help. The girl on the line didnt help me nor did she try to advise me on what to do best being as I was so scared I really couldn’t think straight & I was trying to calm my baby down. I was trying to get away from this man because after HE hit ME, he started following me & tried to get out of his car to come to my car. I stupidly didnt think & went home thinking I lost him. Instead he followed me home & seen where I lived. I continued to drive off until the 911 operator told me they were close. So I quickly parked the wrong way in front of my house to safely get my son out & just run inside just in case this man came back. Atleast we would be safe inside. Well the cop came, yes she was nice. But the man came back! I told her that it was him & instead of following him to get his plate or TRY to pull him over she just looked at him and let him drive away! I was shocked! She tried to say it was because just in case a child came running out into the road but it was literally 10pm! There was no kids outside besides my child! I felt broken and scared. Especially since he knew where we stayed. Her sergeant then came & instead of being nice and sympathetic he told her to tell me my car was parked wrong & move it! Then looked at me like I was the problem or crazy when he drove past. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. Like why even call. & this is why sometimes others take matters into their own hands. Because when they call for help they dont get the help they need. Til this very day that man is out there & I havent heard nothing from the dept. I had to install cameras on my house to feel some kind of safety. I feel very safe! Thank you! Btw after that situation I actually had to hide my car. Then my car stopped working completely leaving me carless. But thankfully I was able to buy another one months later.

Had an issue during Hurricane Ian, needed a last minute printing solution to allow us to post our baggage back home before our flight, explained the issue to one of the Sheriffs outside the station and within minutes they reappeared with the shipping labels we needed, really helpful and saved us a lot of stress due to the closure of the local printing facilities, we cannot thank you enough!

If I could rate y'all no stars, I would. For a county that talks highly about noise disturbance in the wee hours of the morning, y'all got my messed up. I call and call, and no "deputy" ever comes out. Y'all ridiculous, afraid of everything, it seems

No follow through. We went out of our way to provide a video we took of a child being hit and in the middle of an adult fight and no one called us back. We brought the video down to this station and still no follow through. We just gave up. Poor child. Absolutely absurd. Not the type of protection a city like Davenport Florida needs. We tried to do the right thing and basically were completely ignored. This is exactly why kids end up stuck in abusive situations because of no follow through and poor law enforcement officials.
