The campground has a hiking trail 1.8 miles that leads to the beach. The beach was clean with a large sandy area. It is an older campground with huge shade trees. The lots are a decent size. I stayed at site 15 and that loop had bushes on the sides which provided privacy and gives you a deep woods feeling. The bathrooms are older but were kept clean my only complaint is that it only has one short hiking trail, but that's to be expected with a smaller park. We had a wonderful time here.
It's almost hard to believe you're in such close proximity to the city. If you're coming here with a camper make sure you bring an extension cord I'd suggest 50' I brought a 30' and my camper has an extended cord and I still had to back off the paved spot to reach the power. Also as I started to say you "almost" can't tell your close to the city. But the park seems to be inline with an airport there is so much air travel noise. Seems like a great place for kids there were so many....
Beautiful hiking trails. We combined the totally empty hiking, biking and equestrian trails, but got lost a little on the latter. We could easily back up onto another trail though, so that wasn’t really a problem : I quite missed a scenic overview on the trails, we got to a higher level, but the trees unfortunately blocked the views of the lake. The trails must be wonderful in spring and summer and offering a lot of natural shade as well. We will definitely come back here when it is warmer and then also bring our bathing suits and some BBQ!!!
We had a great visit in our first weekend getaway this season! We had, what seemed to be, a private site with plenty of shade. It was peaceful, quite, and just an overall great experience! We will definitely visit again!
Cool campsites! I like the ones in the woods for more seclusion. There are a lot of RVs and tow behind campers here but not a lot of campgrounds have tent-only areas, sadly. Nice enough for being such a close drive in the metro area. Bathrooms were clean and accessible. Beach was nice and I got in a dip, probably our last warm weekend! Goodbye summer!
Really loved the open space. Enough picnic tables for any group or small family. The beach is very clean & very inviting. There's even a boardwalk you can stroll down. There is an area roped off for swimming. The lake has a lot of activity, so be aware of ongoing boat and jetski traffic. There is a fee to enter the park. You can also enter for free if you have a park pass sticker on your vehicle. I just think it's a very beautiful place for solace or to bring your kids.
I like this park because it's beautiful but it's not nearly as crowded as the many of the other parks are this time of year Restrooms: Clean Picnic area: Plenty of tables both near the water and away from the water.
Great outdoor facility. Always clean. Very safe with the rangemasters always alert for anyone not minding the rules. Can't beat $4 to shoot the whole day.
Really wonderful park. Endless beach & picnic facilities to have a great beach day, or picnic. There's a wonderful boardwalk that runs alongside the beach. Great for walking or just sitting to watch the waves. The beach Hass a swim area w/ floaters to keep you inside and away from lake traffic, like boats, canoes & jetskis. There are picnic tables enough for just you, or a group to have a great day. There's also a dog park to bring your dog to play. There is a fee to enter this area, the cost is different.
Beautiful day in November Walking well maintained trails Just one thought on nice days like that where more people are likely to come, might unlocked the bathrooms
