At Poppy Hill, we take a hands-on thematic approach to learning subject areas of math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. This is accomplished by incorporating a variety of activities which include: circle time for sharing, storytime, individual and group projects, table work, one on one teacher time, music and art, lab experience, and monthly field trips. Possible locations are the Kern Co. Museum, Murray Farms pumpkin picking, Exotic Feline Compound, CALM, Ostrich Farm, Pulford's Apple Orchard, BVS Fire Dept, Greg & Steve concert, and many more.
The philosophy at Poppy Hill is to work hand in hand with parents/caregivers to enhance each child's natural love of learning and curiosity about their world. The school provides an environment designed to stimulate each child's learning style: visual, verbal, kinesthetic, spacial, naturalistic, interpersonal, artistic, and musical. Our goal is to promote the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well being of each child and strive for a seamless transition from preschool to kindergarten and far beyond.
