Poppy's Bakery

The donuts are absolutely fabulous. The glazed donuts are light and perfectly cooked. The filled donuts have plenty of very good filling. They ran out of apple fritters before I got there so I'll have to go back again for some of those.

We stopped by our our way out of town and each got a donut - boston creme and raspberry stuffed. We didn't eat them until late that night and they still tasted very fresh. Overall I'd say they were tasty and I recommend this place. The only thing to note is that they do charge a fee for using a credit card, so bring cash if you can.

Poppy's bakery is the best I've had in Kentucky and top 5 all-time. I live in Louisville, but it's always worth the trip. I strategically plan visits to Frankfort and Lexington to ensure that I can stop in for some of the goods. Everyone that works there is very kind. I called on my way to Lexington last weekend to make sure they were still open it was 30 minutes until closing, and they kindly set some donuts aside for me I did not request that. I had mentioned that I was traveling, so they didn't want me to miss out. I will be a loyal Poppy's customer for life. Thank you all for being so great!

Love the doughnuts. Also have enjoyed every other pastry I have had from Poppy’s. Hate that literally NOTHING is priced. NOTHING. No menu board. No signs on the trays of pastries indicating what you will be paying. No signs saying how much a dozen glazed or a dozen mixed or even the most basic information is posted. You just have to blindly order and hold your breathe as your order is rung up. I think this way of operating is unkind and inconsiderate to the customers that keep a place in business. What if Kroger or Walmart tried these kinds of shenanigans? Well, actually Walmart DOES do this by not making sure all of their items are in the correct spot on the shelf. It’s work, but at least there I can use the app and scan products to know exactly what I will be paying. Hopefully Poppy’s will change this practice of keeping customers in the dark until it’s time to pay. Until then I guess I’ll just keep asking, “How much is this? How much is that?”. So far I have memorized the price of 3 things. Of course if that changes, I wouldn’t know until I’m handed my receipt.

Just your run of the mill donut. Nothing special about these little bites. Felt a bit heavy and overly sweet. Definitely not worth the high rating they received. Better options in Frankfort.

My husband and I were visiting Buffalo Trace for our anniversary and found Poppy’s Bakery. In four days we have devoured 12 pecan danishes and would continue this ritual if we lived here- lol. Yum!

I went in for a last minute wedding cake. Customer service was phenomenal. Employee was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and patient. When I went to pick up our cake it was perfect and more beautiful than what I imagined. They definitely went above and beyond for me. A friend of mine and my husband new us and took extra care while making our cake! Poppy's Bakery is the only place I will ever go to know any time I need bakery goods. Thank you to the staff for making our day just that much more special!

Love poppy's donuts. They are typically busy, but they are the best donut shop in town

Definitely must try their maple bacon donut, huge cinnamon rolls and apple fritters. Well worth the money and friendly staff. Facility has been renovated within past year. Poppy's Bakery is also on the donut trail for Kentucky. So it's definitely worth your trip.

I go to Poppy's at least once a week. Their donuts are the best and the quality is consistent over the years. I’ve also had special orders that I’ve never had any issues with. Thankful for this business in our community!
