So far so good at Porpoise! Love the bike camping facilities, lots of space to spread out. Hot showers, fresh water, right by the water. The group site is huge, but essentially a gravel parking lot. Others might like this, but there are nicer sites out there.
Absolute gem of a campsite. Huge grassy areas for tents, play area for kids, beach with views and a small scenic trail. Site has most amenities like toilets, water and bear caches. Fire pits and plenty of wood around the place bring a saw or axe. Will 100% be back.
We spent 4 days here at the end of summer. Great quiet campsite. Majority people camping were camping with tents but the sites were large enough for trailers. Ours is 30 feet and fit fine. The far end of the campground is a 5-10 min walk to the bay. I had to drive our kayaks down to the water to paddle. One large disadvantage was there is no sani-dump but there is one just off the highway at Robert’s creek provincial park just 20 min away toward gibsons.
Seems like a really nice place to have a picnic whether it's with just 2 people or a large group of people. The park has a endless amount of picnic tables some covered, shade, and open space. However, the public washrooms were closed during my visit and the one outhouse by the parking lot was disgusting/not usable.
We love this family-friendly campground and have been coming here for over a decade. Don't expect to be able to have a campfire during the summer as fire bans are often in effect. It's just a short walk from the campsites to the beach and playground. Recommended to reserve in advance. Lots of people bring their dogs.
Such a beautiful park! Gorgeous beach/scenery with lots of picnic tables and benches around.
I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. We are camping for a week and I’ve seen the park rangers 6 times a day maybe even more, always see them re filling TP in out houses, changing garbage’s cleaning sites once someone has left. The main bathroom has two showers in womens washroom water was warm and hot no complaints as it is camping and I’m surprised they even offer showers or plumbing for the fact it’s CAMPING!!! So I’m grateful for that. All neighbours where great some loud people but it was before 11 and we didn’t mind. The beach was awesome the access to it was easy to find. We come here once a year and it never disappoints. I do recommend you make a reservation online so you can secure a spot and not have to try and find one when you show up and hoping there is one because guarantee it’s all reserved. Also always check for fire ban because having a fire pit is good to have on the colder nights. There is a huge grassy area to set up yard games so don’t forget your games. : happy Camping!!.
Clean and fairly spread out campsites. Just a few minute walk to the beach. No power, no fires at campsites due to a clean air rule—although people used propane ones. Communal fires, well-kept outhouses, showers/change rooms with a power outlet at the change rooms if you really need it. A couple large structures/wood covers at the beach for hosting probably 50 people. A park. Park staff was very friendly. The bay hosts the harbour airport as well. So you hear and sea airplanes landing on porpoise bay all throughout the day.
Holy moly, I should not tell you this but, this is a well kept secret. Air is fresh, water from ocean is beautiful, layout is excellent, no mosquitos!!!!!! Has flushing toilet and shower. has a group site and overflow. Beautiful campground, especially when the moon is on the water......Nice short trip on the ferry and close to all amenities. Better than Golden Ears, sorry my opinion.
Absolutely beautiful place to take a little hike. We took a stroll around the beach, the view was gorgeous, it was very clean. The trails through the woods almost make you feel like you’ve been transported into a magical realm, the trees are huge, the logs and rocks are covered with moss. Walking beside the creek and taking in the fresh air really makes you feel so serene. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax and take in the cool ocean air, check this place out!
