Historic House Museum--Home of A.F. Porter, Naturalist
Embark on a journey to discover the story of this 1867 Italianate Villa home and its remarkable residents, Adelbert Field Porter (1879 - 1968) and his wife Grace Young Porter (1880 - 1964).
Bert Porter traveled extensively throughout the world and was a nationally known collector and naturalist. He spared no effort in traversing the wilderness in pursuit of the rarest butterflies. The house is a testament to his passion for natural history--not just butterflies, but rocks, fossils, shells, and other curiosities.
The Porter House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has enjoyed the honor of serving the community for over 40 years.
