Enjoyed Thriving Thursdays outdoor concert & activities! Great family fun! Ryan Kilgore & Brooke Alford the Violonist!
I took acting classes here about 12 years ago and came back this past January. Honestly, this is the highlight of my week. Dwayne, Salena, Amar, and Kristin are probably the best teachers I've ever had in anything. You can tell they care about what they do and those they teach. They teach hard and fair but it's worth it. There are some things I could work on and they are doing their best to teach me but that's completely on me. I look forward to the short time I'm in these classes every week.
I have planned events here Ujamaafest, a Kwanzaa gathering, attended plays here when my brother was part of True Colors theater productions, taken my kids to acting class, and attended the early morning hours of an outdoor event. The venue is top notch for all, it's a classy structure with depth and size. The bathrooms are always clean, they're large, and they have no accessibility issues throughout the venue.
I went to a health fair and symposium at this location. Definitely a gem in the community. Hope more organizations or businesses host events there so we can keep nice venues like these in our community. So mad that I missed Tito Jackson perform here live! We must be all that to have a performer of his status be here!
The Porter Sanford Arts and Community Center is a vital arts and teaching facility. There are two well appointed theaters, a main stage and a black box. There is also class room space and a dance studio. The center does not have a main theater company. It's primarily a rental house and it's not cheap. The technical staff is first rate and the equipment is modern. Some of the front of house staff are not trained as well. There is plenty of parking and a good loading dock. There are fewer restaurants nearby than one would like and while one might take a bus there, driving is the best way. Hopefully, the center will spur development.
This is the most worst theater staffing I ever encountered with. For the past 4 or 5 years I have have been trying to put on a production it has failed due to STAFF ERRORS AND MISCOMMUNICATION! I recently walked in and was given a tour again and was introduced to the new director or new staff that took my paperwork 3 months ago and just now called me to say they can’t find my paperwork!!!! I got receipts that one year they took my paperwork and gave my date to another production and emailed me an apology! I’m so tired of supporting the black community with this unprofessionalism! The staff here don’t care, your production got to have a BIG NAME before they allow other people to rent it! I’m so tired of how black people run the business. And on top of it the person that calls never has a clue on nothing, no paperwork, never go get help. It’s just an empty conversation! 3 months I’ve waited for a response and all I get is…I CANT FIND YOUR PAPERWORK! They just don’t care! It’s other theaters so I’ll move on! Disappointed in this community and this theater!!!
Excellent performance. Great seating. Facility very clean. Parking: If you have trouble walking, the hill may be a challenge.
I've enjoyed several shows here and most of all for me was the seating is excellent. Compared to Fox downtown Atlanta where I thought I'd die before I left the show my legs were so crushed at the Fox.
Great venue, well-run and the acoustics are very good. We had a wonderful time at an event there.
I loved it also Destiny was my favorite actor a lot of good singers and dancers.
