Since 1982, the charm and character of the Heritage and our unique style have made us a local favorite. Find out why people come back again and again.

Our narrated cruises are casual, sometimes amusing, always informative. Whether discussing the birdlife of the inland waterways, the folklore of the Isles of Shoals, the ship building history of Portsmouth harbor, or just musing on the ever changing tides of the Piscataqua, our captains always have something of interest to offer.

Cute affordable harbor cruise! We've done a similar tour out of Seattle and we preferred this one because it's on a smaller boat and easier to hear the narrator. Sit on the left side if you can, we were on the right and most of the sites we couldn't see as they were pointed out. It was a beautiful day, definitely recommend doing.
Simply the best! Just the right length and right amount of narration for all generations to enjoy. Comfortable indoor and outdoor seating options and TWO ! immaculately clean marine heads for convenience and comfort. Been twice this summer and can’t wait to go again for Fall Color Cruise.
We took 2 cruises with them while on vacation. The one that went out towards the ocean was great. Loved seeing a couple lighthouses. The river fall foliage wasn't as good. Couldn't see much.
With several types of cruises through the harbor narrated, sunset, etc this is a must-do if visiting the Portsmouth/Kittery area. Our cruise was a little over an hour and a half, gently steaming from Portsmouth to the river's mouth at the Atlantic. Along the way you'll see interesting sights from a naval shipyard to lighthouses, as well as some stunning nature scenes. Well worth it! Notes- I'd definitely recommend the sunset cruise, but remember that temps on the water are cooler and may require a jacket. There is a small bar onboard as well, if you'd like to enjoy a cocktail while cruising.
It was amazing! The captain and first mate were awesome and very nice. It was a lightly narrated boat ride with some facts about the beautiful landmarks. Cruising out on the open water in the evening was absolutely gorgeous while the lights glistened on the open sea. The first made made some killer drinks and it’s a great trip for a nice romantic night on the water. Definitely worth the price since they made it feel like a dream!
I never give 4 stars on my first visit, until I go back a second time. When I visit Portsmouth again, I'll definitely book another tour. Took the sunset tour. Tip: bring a light jacket if you get cold easily
Nice afternoon out on the water on a hot, sunny day! Beautiful views. Excellent narration during the tour. Smooth voice. Terrific history lessons. Captain was excellent. Ride was comfortable, pretty full, but more seating than I realized. The dock seemed more crowded than the boat. You could move around, not feel too close. ... There are snacks & bevarages available to purchase.
We really enjoyed the Sunset cruise. It was cloudy that day, so we did not get to see the sunset, yet a very pleasant experience.
I LOVE this harbor cruise. The crew is wonderful. Such a nice activity when friends are visiting to take them out on the water and show them the area for am hour. Highly recommend.
We booked the star island walking tour, which was 3.75 hours, and it wasn’t enough time on the island. The larger boat goes slow so it takes a while to get out to the island. By the time you get to star island, you have an hour to walk around. When we go out again, we’ll select the day visit instead. Aside from that, the island is beautiful. There are signs to follow the trail around the island and sightsee or you can use one of the tour guides provided by the boat. They have some kayaking you could do if you booked the day tour and plenty of places to just relax and enjoy the sun and atmosphere. Don’t forget your sunscreen! The sun was blazing down on the island. The boat is large and there’s plenty of room. They have an inside cabin with a bar and some food options. The island also has food. The boat has someone pointing out what you’re seeing as you exit the harbor on the loudspeaker. It can get chilly on the boat so bring something for that. As for parking, they have their own parking and it’s $5 for the trip. Bring cash. Before I go, one thing no one mentioned online or in the reviews is SHOES. The island can be muddy and rocky in places and sandals are not a good idea. I recommend sneakers or good soled boat shoes for walking the island. You’ll thank me later. 4 to 4.5 stars
