Drivers - main entrance will be on the 6th street bridge. Pull up to the large gate entrance, hit the buzzer, tell security who you're with and they will open. Once inside, it's going to be super tight depending on the amount of trucks inside. I deliver with day cab and we even need a minimum of 3 to 4 open docks to make it manageable to dock. If you have a sleeper, just take your time, it's not that you can't make it, this location can be tight depending on time and other trucks within. Once done unloading you can exit out on either side. The folks on the dock have treated me well, and I don't mind coming here as long as it's not congested. There is a few spots you can back into and check in once inside or wait for a dock location to open up. Choke tires and shut truck off once docked.
I was there for picking up. Check in is in the second floor. Go to the bridge there is a gate for semi truck in the middle of the bridge. I putted a photo. It was like a nightmare. But they load so fast. If you have a seal on your trailer don’t touch it. They will cut it. They don’t have restrooms.
Today I tried to ship tapes via media mail and was treated by the clerk like a criminal. She then called me the n-word, which was unbelievable, while her co worker and another customer were right there watching. I'll stick with the 12th street store.
Semis heading north take 72A to w Michigan st take a right. Head down to 6th st take another right. You'll go under a bridge then up a bridge. semi entrance on 2nd floor of building Half way over the bridge to ur left is the entrance. Pull up to speaker box n someone will talk to you. Yes semis can fit inside you'll see trailers as you approach when you leave you can go out either end of building. No cell signal so know where ur going before you enter also no rest rooms.
This is the only post office I’ll go to in Milwaukee. Every time I’ve been, the wait times are short and the people at the desk have been friendly and helpful. I also appreciate the lobby having 24/7 access to the self serve kiosk, perfect for those late nights as a small business owner when I just need to get the package out!
I cannot comment on service, as we did not use the post office inside. However, this is the most impressive Post Office building I have ever seen and would detour just to see it!!! It is MASSIVE, and it is the coolest thing to me that trains pull right INTO the building AND it has boats pull up too being on the water. The bulding is an entire block long and it really just is a sight to see walking around Milwaukee
one of my favorite post office locations i have ever been to. the ladies at the front desk are always kind, and have great attitudes. today they were making me laugh and thats what i look for in my experiences! everyone always treats you with kindness, knowledgeable, and fun. always a quick visit as well. they always get you in and out fast!
Truck drivers! Trucker entrance is on the second level from the 6th st bridge. On GPS it’s better to set a point right on the bridge, there is only one turn from it towards the USPS second level. To check in, use “employee only” door by dock 1
I walked into this location looking to purchase a single stamp and mail a greeting card. Normally the only gripe I have with this location is there's a line. As I walked into this location I noticed there was a line as usual. Not a long line, but long enough if I were working at this location I would have assisted co-workers at the front desk. On this particular occasion a middle age woman, maybe 40-50, was standing behind the counter with her arms fold while the other gentleman post worker helped the customers. Now I understand how scheduled breaks work, but typically you take them away from the place where you help customers. After a few minutes the woman standing with her arms folded began helping customers. When it was my turn to step up to the counter I was greeted by this women with "Are you going to pay for?" To which I replied "Pay for what?", "That card!" the woman exclaimed. At this point I'm blown away. This woman watched my walk into the post office stood there with her arms folded while the line grew longer and then had the nerve to ask me if I was going to pay for a sealed enveloped that she saw me walk into the post office with. Needless to say I was both embarrassed and infuriated. Lucky for me I had just purchased this greeting card and still had the receipt in my car. When I returned a minute later the woman who had helped me was nowhere to be found and the line continued to grow. The kind male postman, who I have seen in this location time and time again working his rear end off, apologized for his co-workers behavior.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOT GO HERE. I scheduled an appointment specifically for this location due to this location being a location that took photos for passports. My wife and I both took off work in order to get my 10 month old baby’s passport completely. After waiting in line for around 20 minutes, the counter clerk asked if we were here for a passport for the baby. She then said word for word “oh I ain’t taking a picture of no baby today, especially if he was crying” I had to keep my cool when it was extremely difficult. SO RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
