We bought some 'everyday' dishes from the store about a year ago and needed four more condiment bowls. Ginny spent the time to look in the store only 3 in a different color and called a multitude of other stores to find what we needed. Alas, none existed in the continental US so we settled on the different-colored ones. Excellent Customer service as Ginny spent >30 minutes looking for us.
Let me tell you a story about Pottery Barn's customer service. TLDR: its terrible. We purchased a bed on Labor Day just to make sure the time frame you have is accurate, that's the first Monday in September. We had to select a fabric. My wife was six months pregnant at the time so we choose a fabric with the shortest estimated delivery 4-6 weeks -- ETA: Early to Mid-October because we wanted to make sure the bed arrived before she delivered in November. Pottery Barn has completely failed us in every aspect after the initial order. The fact that we were required to select a fabric meant that we can't cancel or alter our order in any way we chose the closest to thing to a stock fabric which we could but that doesn't matter. Since our order was now guaranteed, Pottery Barn has ignored us ever since when we have reached out for customer service. How have they ignored us? Lets start with the original estimated shipment. It was intended to ship in early October. It has not shipped. In fact, its been delayed until after Thanksgiving. However, we weren't given any notice of this change. It was luck that we checked the order online a week after it was supposed to be delivered and noticed the change. We tried calling customer service to get an update and were met with complete disdain. The first time I called to ask about the change, I was told that orders placed near Labor Day are always delayed. I asked why we were given an estimate that they knew would be inaccurate. I didn't raise my voice nor did I curse. Nonetheless, the customer service rep hung up on me completely unceremoniously. The second time I called, I asked to speak to a manager since I'd been cut off in the previous call. The CSR said they would transfer me and I waited on hold for several minutes. Once someone picked up the call, I was told I'd been transferred to a shipping company dissociated to Pottery Barn. Keep in mind, the order had not been shipped and was still being manufactured. Needless to say, the shipping company I was passed off to could not explain why my order had been delayed. The third time I called, I asked to speak to a manager again. I was placed on hold again and after several minutes the customer service rep who had originally answered the call picked up the line again. I was told that a manager was unavailable but that they could have one call me back. I asked how long the return call would take and I was promised that it would be no longer than twenty-four hours. I told the CSR that I based on my previous two calls, I didn't have a lot of confidence that I would get a return call. I was told I definitely would. I stated that if I did not get a return call, I would complain on social media. That was two days ago, I never received a return call and I'm currently on social media complaining. My wife gives birth in less than two weeks. We should have received our bed by now but as it stands, the bed will not arrive until long long after our baby is born and my wife will recover from a C-Section on a mattress on the floor because Pottery Barn does not feel any reason to address their customer's needs after the initial order is placed. Pottery Barn already has my money and they have decided that there is no reason they should be held accountable for fulfilling our order in a timely manner. While I can't testify to the quality of the product once it is in hand, if the company gives up on customer retention before the shipment ever arrives, what reason do I have to believe that they will deliver a quality product at all?
Love Pottery Barn! Chris is my go to for everything. Sometimes it takes awhile to get things delivered, but good things come to those who wait. :
