Powell Ace Home Center was founded in 1886 when H.C. Johnson opened a branch lumber store in West Lebanon. In 1937, after changing hands several times, J.E."Stellie" Powell bought the West Lebanon Lumber Company, changing the name to Powell Lumber Company. In 1957, Stellie's son, Bill, joined the business, leaving his lucrative journalistic career. In 1985, Bill opened a second store in Covington. In 1990,Bill's son, Steve, left an engineering job in Texas to join the company. Janet, Bill's daughter, has recently re-joined the business as well. We Partnered with Ace in 1998.
