Nice campground & yes it's free! Only downside is that the bathrooms smell awful. Come prepared for lots of huge bugs/wasps. Also during these fire restrictions, you must have self contained flames ie. oil lamps or device where there would be no way of the flames spreading and causing a fire. Cops were called up to inspect ours and we got the green light since we had water with us in case one somehow broke. Lets all help to keep this place clean! Pack in Pack out
Great location to bring the family or solo camping! Keep an eye out for wildlife though because you'll hear wolf/coyote howls at night. The best part is that it's free and the restroom is kept clean! Be advised that it's bear country there, so take proper precautions. For Cricket customers, you'll lose service about 1.5 miles before the campground fyi.
I've been going here for as long as I can remember. It has every thing you need. A table, the fire pit and cleared out individual camp sites. There are clean outhouses that actually smell good! A ghost town and a bed and breakfast you know just in case camping isn't your thing. I will go here forever and my kids get to go too. I hope this is a tradition that continues to get passed down for many more generations to come.
Loved staying here! It was very cold the 3 days we were there. It was so cool seeing the cows on the way in though. If you do feel like it I suggest taking a drive into cherry and seeing all the homes!
2nd camp here. Prob 4th visit. Very nice and quiet when there for 5 days, 4 nights. Lots to explore around camp if you don't like to just sit. The one negative is there were biting bugs not mosquitos, didn't see one of them like sand fleas and I was chewed...still scratching 6 days after leaving. Will definitely try again but use spray daily.
Nice campsites. No cell reception, thank goodness. If campfires are allowed when you go, then bring wood. Area has been picked clean of any downed wood. Very nice and clean vault toilets. Basic camping. No water or electric. Pops up will work, but very tight for bigger rv. Sites are fairly close to each other so be courteous.
Found a beautiful spot to camp with my daughter here. There are some very unusual rock formations.
Wonderful camping experience. Free and vaulted toilets on site. Plenty of shade and fresh air. Definitely a repeat spot for family camp outings.
Set among the tall pines, this little campground has 11 sites with stone fire pits, cement picnic tables and plenty of space/privacy. A few of the spaces can accommodate small to midsized RVs. Great hiking in the surrounding hills with lots of wildlife. Only negative is that the interior road is pretty rough, narrow and deeply rutted.
Small free campground. Pit toilets were clean even during the off-season. No other services or water. No Verizon or T-Mobile signal. Very tight spots, your neighbors are right beside you. Nice shade trees. Easily accessible by any type of vehicle.
