GREAT dog park! Fenced water area if you don’t want your dog getting wet, plenty of trails through the prairie grasses and the woods, awesome park.
This is one of my favorite places on earth. It's like being in a forest preserve only it's all fenced in so you can walk your dog without a leash. My current and previous dogs have/had so much fun there. Unfortunately they raised the prices a while back, a day pass for a non-resident of lake county costs $30.25 which includes a 25 cent "convenience" fee that you can't possibly get out of paying... I just wish they would stop calling it a convenience fee when there isn't a less convenient way where they don't charge the fee. So it's a once, maybe twice a year kind of thing for me.
Great place for dogs to run. Nice paths for walking and the water area is great too.
We recently took our two pups here and we absolutely loved it. Be aware you do have to have a yearly pass for the county dog parks or pay a daily fee which you can do on your phone. We are definitely planning to get a year-long pass for 2021 since the passes are for the calendar year. Everyone we met was friendly and the area was spacious and wide open. The water access is gated so you can choose to let your dogs go there or not. Overall, this is a great place to bring your dogs to burn off some extra energy.
It's an amazing place, tons of places to explore for the pups. I love it for being so spaced out and the dogs have a LOT a place to run. Small pound can be very fun at times, specially on hot summer days. Down side, small parking lot and very packed on weekends. Dog-friendliness: Yes. Dog friendly and very clean. One water fountain, at the entrance, make sure to bring water due to walk all of the way if your pup is thirsty. Also keep an eye when it rains, puddles EVERYWHERE and pups love it, your car might not. Have a towel handy.
So happy to have found this place! My dog adores coming here and running off-leash, and it's a lovely walk in nature for both of us. There is a large open field, many trails, and a lake that is fenced off should you not want your dog to swim. Once in the lake area escape is possible, as shown in the photo. It can be very muddy depending on weather, so waterproof shoes are good. My guy can get filthy so I bring shampoo and rinse him off at the water pump/hose near the entrance during warmer months.
Very large and nice park although a bit too muddy in many areas. It has a lake, but they put large boulders on the steep slope around the swimming area. This is the best and easiest way to have dogs break their legs.
My dogs love this place. So do my kids. It's the best dog park we've gone to.
Prairie Wolf is very nice, and my dog loves it. It has a couple dog swimming areas and many trails to get those puppy wiggles out. There isn’t much shade, however, so make sure to put sunscreen on and wear a hat.
Amazing and an absolute must go! Prairie Wolf Dog park is amazingly fun not just for the dogs but for the people as well. It's $20 for non-residents and you need to get your pass a couple of days in advance and you need to have medical information. We have come here twice with our dog and he loves it. There is so much room for them to run and play and really be off their leash. There are tons of little trails to walk with them. The biggest attractions though by far are the little pod entrance beaches. All the dogs collect there and they all have so much fun. There is room for them to run, wrestle, play, tons of tennis balls to chase and the lake for them to swim in. My dog isn't big on swimming but when we are here he loves the water. He chases the tennis ball out and brings it back. Everyone who comes here is incredibly nice and everyone is there for the dogs. The park is well maintained, plenty of shade, space, and things to do. The only thing about this park is that there aren't really any places for the dogs to drink water besides what you bring and the lake water. Besides that I highly recommend this place as a must go for any dog lovers.
