Prather Coliseum

Description

Prather Coliseum is a 3,900-seat multi-purpose arena in Natchitoches, Louisiana. It opened in 1964 and is home to the Northwestern State University Demons basketball team. The arena also holds concerts and events. Prather Coliseum was named in honor of the school's most successful basketball and football coach, H. Lee Prather, who served from the 1910s through the 1940s before becoming NSU President in 1951.HistoryThe coliseum is among projects credited to the late State Senator Sylvan Friedman of Natchitoches Parish. It opened two years before Friedman's retirement.Prather Coliseum is also known as the venue for the final concert performed by rock star Jim Croce on Thursday, September 20, 1973. Shortly after the concert, Croce's plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Natchitoches airport, killing Croce and all others aboard the plane. The arena hosted the Southland Conference men's basketball tournament in 2005–06. Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball player Keiva Council set the single-game scoring record in the building with 48 points in an 84–80 Wolfpack victory over Northwestern State on November 25, 2011.

Great LHSAA Basketball Camp! Beautiful lake and scenery alongside the school.
I got to watch my niece receive her degree for being a Nurse Practitioner. Nice atmosphere and beautiful moments.
A great place to watch a sporting event with adequate parking and access to bathrooms. One note of warning is that it gets muddy quickly when the rain comes, but otherwise a nice venue
Truly enjoyed the MUSIC and the staff was very pleasant and really accommodating to the seniors. Definitely will attend next year.
I'm having A Great time #FolkFestival2019 #IAmLouisiana #OnlyInNatchitoches
Went for a high school graduation. Plenty of parking and seats inside. Very cold in there, I needed a jacket.
Great facility for sport games and events, the coliseum stays clean and doesn't have an odor. The acoustics are nice too. The only thing that could be better is the parking. There isn't nearly enough parking spaces for a full stadium without people having to find some "creative" parking spots, and the parking lot that is currently present can use some maintenance. Otherwise, a good place to go watch a game or graduation!
During a visit to LA, I was able to watch a women's basketball game here and the facility was nice along with the people. I purchased a VIP ticket which included food. Seats were good along. With everything else.
In need of an update. This campus is so pretty
Nice and cold facility graduation went awesome
