I was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital by ambulance on Tuesday and was admitted because I was experiencing stroke symptoms. Upon arrival, the staff in the emergency room was overtly attentive. I can not say how quick and responsive they were. They admitted me to the hospital for overnight observation and all of the physicians, nurses and staff were extremely helpful and attentive. I can not say enough about how I was treated. The one thing that really stood out was how well the staff works together and there demeanor, like they enjoy there job. I have to say that if I ever have any other emergency, this is my hospital of coice. I want say thank you to everyone who took care of me.

The woman who works the ER office counter is extremely rude. She gave so much attitude. Demanding me to stay at the counter when filling out multiple papers. Her tone was very rude. I am one with patience and I did not appreciate her help whatsoever. She made the whole experience there so unwelcoming. I will not be back. Their staff in the ER and when being admitted were not attentive. I walked up to the ER nurses where their desks were and made multiple eye contact just to be ignored. Nobody bothered asking if I needed help. I had to say excuse me knowing they heard me but didn’t want to help. The nurses that were on duty were not the best as well. I had to remind them of certain medications. I felt like I needed to keep an eye out. I do not recommend this place at all.
Always professional snd discreet, the therapists still made ne hopeful and excited with each improvement. The nurses showed me everu day how much they care with dedication and diligently ensured each patient was important to them. If family ever needs rehab again this is definitely our program of choice. All the people who helped are fantastic! THANK YOU!
I am giving 2 stars because of the kindness of one particular person and a couple of nurses that attended my Mom but overall it was the worst experience ever. My mom has a gangrene on her pinky toe but not once was she seen by the hospital podiatrist because of her insurance issue. What a catholic way to treat patients regardless of insurance issue.
My son was taken to the ER with a gash in his head that ultimately needed staples. We sat there for nearly 3 hours before anyone came to check on him after initial triage entry. 3 nurses were outside of his room gossiping and watching tik toks, ultimately waiting until the new staff came in after shift rotation. It was also heard them asking specifics about my son, and them not checking on him, cleaning his wound, ordering the CT scan, or even offering anything to keep his bleeding packed until he was treated. Literally nothing was done by them for over 2 hours. I’m not new to health care and I can only assume this was due to them not wanting to take on another patient before they ended their shift and having to chart. There were MAYBE 6 people in ER at the time total getting treatment, my son included. Completely unacceptable. Of course the new doctor and nurses were apologetic and did phenomenal, and were were out of there within a decent amount of time after all the scans and the medical treatment.
Scheduling is abysmal. Autodialed by scheduling, put in interminable hold queue, finally accept call back option, and that shoots me to a voicemail, which I know can't be correct. Nevertheless, I leave a voicemail to which there is never a response. Finally, I call. After 3 transfers, I get central scheduling. The scheduler repeated the same information at least twice until I stopped her and told her she had already told me those things. Despite the fact that I'm scheduling within Ascension's system with an order placed by a doctor IN the Ascension system, the info I provided at the physician's office apparently doesn't populate into Ascension's system-wide EMR, unlike at Advocate, UC, Northwestern Medicine, etc. If I didn't value my referring physician so much, I'd avoid Ascension in the future. Total time on phone to schedule: 26 minutes.
In five days there, saw a doctor all of five minutes. He tried to cold turkey me from benzos after a medium dosage regularly taken for 10 years I started having uncontrollable shaking, severe headache and darn near a seizure until I was able to locate my meds and contact my actual psychiatrist, which they wouldn't let me meet with I will be contacting an attorney regarding this. Under no circumstances should you subject yourself to this kind of torture. Dr. Anwar doesn't know what he's doing.
This hospital almost killed me. I would have died if I’d listened to them…….I had a massive stroke and went there in an ambulance. They treated me as a drunk and sent me home. I couldn’t speak or walk on my own. I was crying. I went back two days later begging for help - I was in so much pain - and they sent me home again. Did no further testing. I finally went to a different hopital the following day and they diagnosed the stroke. My brain was swelling. It got so bad that I blacked out and they had to open my head in two places. I had a drain tube in my head for 10 days and they took out a piece of my skull. I filed a complaint with St. Joseph Presence Hospital and they did an “investigation” and said that they didn’t see that they had done anything wrong. Yet they didn’t even speak with me about it once. They are being very dismissive about it and won’t even talk to me. Because they know they messed up. Worst hospital I have ever experienced.
ended up being taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's because i was having chest pain and when I got there there were doctors and nurses waiting for my arrival that was very comforting. I was actually having a major heart attack. they called a cardiologist to come in from home and I think within 45 minutes i was in the OR having two stents installed in my heart. the doctor that performed the procedure was very good. the only problem I had was they did A EKG on my heart and the tech that did it put the wrong name on it and they couldn't find it so i had to stay in the hospital an extra day. So that is why this is not a five star review. the nurses in the ICU were amazing and the nurses in the telemetry dept were also awesome. i would like to thank the paramedics that brought me in all the doctors and staff in the ER for the unbelievably quick care they provided me. i would also like to tank the ICU nurses and staff for the great care and the nurses in the telemetry dept.
