We were visiting friends in the area for a few days and decided to fit in a stop here. Took the free tour. The house/furnishings are amazing... and the grounds are beautiful. Especially loved the weeping beech tree! Our kids 10 & 9 did the junior ranger activity which gave them a scavenger hunt type challenge which helped keep them engaged. Highly recommend

We really enjoyed our private tour of Garfield’s house by tour guide Pat. She focused on their family life and was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the time period as well as the family of a lessor known president. Only historical house we’ve ever toured that is run by the national park system and was free admission which was a nice surprise. Definitely worth a visit!
We enjoyed the film, exhibit, and tour. The tour was by reservation which you can make at the site and was worth the time. A fascinating family!Visited onWeekday

A wonderful story of a man who came from nothing to become president; alas not long enough. If only men were of his mettle today. A beautiful, peaceful place. Not to be missed. Learn the significance of this porch, his books, this “picture” all great stories.
Stopped here on Saturday morning. Grounds are immaculately kept. There is a walking tour and you can dial in on the phone for a comprehensive narration. We were made aware, by another visitor, that this location has the BARK Ranger program, so we signed up our little Chihuahua. We absolutely loved that part. We were pressed on time for a tor of the house which I’m sure was a fabulous tour. Peeking through the windows, it looked equally neatly kept inside as the outside. Enjoyed our stop and walking tour of the grounds!
Nice historic site, due to social distancing they reduced the amount of tours per day so we couldn't go in the house. Very informative and lots to see otherwise. They have a cell phone tour of the grounds and a small visitor center/museumVisited onWeekdayReservation recommendedYes
Mary was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed her tour of Lawnfield. The grounds and buildings are well maintained. Make sure to call to reserve the tour of the house!
Fantastic tribute to this president. The place is beautiful with a lot to explore. We took the tour and were impressed with the staff knowledge. I mean, you'd expect that. These folks really seem to care about the job they're doing. I recommend any of the NPS or Interior Dept managed presidential sites. Always well. done. And Garfield, who wasn't president for a full term, was an amazing man.
