Bucknell University is proud to participate in the White House Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge. The initiative was developed in response to a challenge issued by President Obama to colleges and universities to create opportunities for dialogue among people of different faith traditions and those with no religious affiliation as they work together on a common project for the public good.
Our project, entitled “Feeding Our Hearts, Expanding Our Vision,” is a year-long initiative that will focus on food access and security with the intention of increasing resources for local food programs that serve the needy as well as reducing food waste on campus. Thinking about how our religious or ethical values influence the way we feast, fast, grow and use food, in addition to considering our obligations to the poor and hungry, are part of this open initiative. All are welcome to get involved in a variety of educational events such as guest lectures, panel discussions, and film screenings, as well as service activities such as food drives, fund raising, and the creation of a community garden.
