Prevue is a remarkably good company and I say that with first hand experience as a customer who had some issues with their product. I had an in depth experience with their customer service department to resolve my problem. As a person who knows the bird cage industry and is very aware of what’s available on the market, I can say this about Prevue: Quality - Better than most other brands Cost - Competitively priced in market Value - You get what you pay for Service - Outstanding, 100% back their product I’ve purchased several Prevue cages. They are well made, thoughtfully designed for assembly, straight parts with hood welds, good finish and you will receive a brush and touch up paint. Buy one of those cheaper brands and you will get garbage. If you want better quality than Prevue, it’s available and you will pay much more for it. There is one main competitor to Prevue the way I see it, both positioned in the upper middle end of quality. That brand is slightly more expensive, maybe a little better fit and finish, more sturdy, but Prevue’s are designed with larger seed guards and I prefer that. Prevue backs their product 100%, no matter who or where you purchase from. When you call them, you will get direct, personal attention from customer service with no wait. This is simply an outstanding company in a world where that is becoming so rare.
Prevue products aren’t the fanciest but they do the job well, on a budget, better than any other brand for parrots.
TW: ANIMAL DEATH My daughter works with a local rescue organization and routinely fosters kittens in our spare room, specifically in Prevue Pet's Deluxe Cat Home #7501. Occasionally, she also takes in very pregnant mamas who are provided a safe space to give birth and raise their litters before everyone is fixed and put up for adoption. One such pregnant mama gave birth overnight, which is typical; they don't like an audience. The next morning, my daughter found the mama nursing two new kittens and assumed that was the litter size. It wasn't. One of the newborn kittens had managed to slip through the bars of this cage, crawl under the cage, and perish where no one could see it. By the time she found the little creature, it was far too late. This cage is billed as “safe for curious cats and kittens” with “no gaps or pinch points”. And yet the gaps between the bars were large enough for a newborn kitten to slip through and die without ready access to her mother's warmth and milk. To be clear: If the kitten had not slipped through the bars, the kitten would have lived. I reached out to the company and informed them of what had happened. I fielded such non-compassionate questions as whether I thought the deceased kitten might have been the runt of the litter. It wouldn't have mattered. My daughter would have hand fed it if it needed supplemental feeding; she did that regularly. We made three demands of the company: First, provide a warning so this never happens again. They said they would. You can see quite plainly on the product page that they did not. Second, fix the problem. We even provided several suggestions. For example, on the lowest level of the cage, extra bars could be installed either horizontally or vertically. They said they would. You can see that they did not. Third, we requested a donation to the rescue organization so that this little kitten's death could at least have some meaning by providing assistance to other rescue kittens. After much stalling, eventually the company sent several fully-assembled products from their latest product line with a total retail value of around $300. The items were 100% useless in a kitten rescue situation and, based on our conversations with the company, they knew that. I think they sent some products they had displayed at trade shows and were anxious to get rid of; how else to explain that they came fully assembled? This is what a kitten's life is worth to these people. Would you trust your pet's life to one of their products?
I just got my parrot home, item #3453. It is a beautiful stainless steel cage that is very sturdy and Baby, my Timneh African grey, went right in and started climbing around. It came with assembly directions and luckily, my daughter came over and we worked together and and put it together. It's very sturdy and Baby can't get out by himself -- sometimes I have to play with the locks to get him out. It arrived promptly and there was no damage. I have been looking at the Prevue site and I see wooden perches but I can't find where to buy them. The reason I needed a new cage is that I had a cage from a well known manufacturer and the bottom grill and surrounding base was completely rusted and sticky and I couldn't get it clean no matter how hard I tried. I would highly recommend this Prevue cage to anyone who would ask. I love it and so does Baby. If anyone knows how to get the wooden perches on the Prevue website maybe you can post it on Facebook.. Bought the catville tower, model number 7240. First prevue pet product I've ever bought, and it's also my last. I had to constantly undo steps and redo them 3 steps later because the instructions are atrocious. The parts don't fit together without brute force, a mallet, and saint-level patience. Had to build it over the course of 3 days... 1 because it took 5 hours to build, 2 so I didn't snap every piece in half and throw it in the trash. This thing better out live my cats for the money and irritation I've invested in it. But I'll never buy another product by Prevue again!
Of I could give no stars I would. Tried to purchase a cage from this company through Walmart and recieved a dog brush .this was almost a month ago and still haven't been able to contact the seller or get a refund despite the fact that I had to drive 45 minutes to ship the thing back. I always buy things based on reviews and because it was Walmart I bypassed that but won't make that mistake again. Hopefully this helps another unsuspecting victim.
I bought a cage for my quaker parrot off of Amazon and I have had nothing but good out of it. Keep up the best work.
Your snuggle hut killed my parrot today, my young green cheek conure that had a lot of life ahead of him. You need to pull these products from the shelves we are heart broken
I have two of their cages and when I need something, always willing to help.
Love the hamster cages, easy clean and secure.
