I am not a local, so I cannot attest to the condition of the park throughout the week. I attended the drum circle on Friday and had so much fun. Yes, there were some homeless wandering around, but everyone was smiling and dancing and having fun with all the drummers!
This park is a really cool place in downtown Asheville that hosts numerous events my family likes to attend on a regular basis. Every Friday night there is a drum circle starting at 6pm. Beautiful place to sit and relax while walking through the town or shopping. However at times there are some homeless people that linger around sitting on the benches, drinking or smoking. If you can get past that you've got yourself a cool place to sit and really take in the entire Asheville atmosphere.
We were on our way to lunch and walked by this park. Luckily it was a Friday, so they had the drum circle. You can’t walk past here and not stop and admire the music. We stayed for quite a while just watching, and if you’re lucky, they’ll offer you a percussion instrument to play. Worth the stop!
My partner and I really enjoyed the drum circle and everything around it. It was music and drum beats that brought out the best in diversity, compassion, oneness and most of all, hope for humanity. The vibe was unprecedented. When you see so many different ethnicities, ages and skin tones moving to the beat of the drums….wow we have a chance…
Early in the morning lots of homeless people sleeping on the benches. Mid day it is a nice park with lots of shade. When the sun starts to go down the homeless numbers start to go up and hangout in groups. Was never bothered by any of them or asked to give them money. We did stop to watch this band Chilltonic play for the park and they put on a great show!
Great area to sit with family/friends and watch the world around you. Also a great area to sit by yourself and observe the world. Central location in downtown Asheville. No smoking allowed at the park and this is enforced
It's a beautiful little Park with acceptance to creativity in your experience like playing your music singing or drawing and talk on the ground but after hours it becomes a dangerous place
Small little inner city park adjacent to a lot of shops etc in downtown Asheville.
I've always loved this place on Friday nights, drum circle is an immaculate place to go for total enjoyment, family fun, and to see all the unique talent that people have to offer! Asheville may not be that great of a place to move to or live in, but hands down a recommended place to visit!!
In the middle of uptown Asheville...nice area to explore...the checker/chessboards are really cool... bring your own pieces if you want to play. Enjoy!
