As a soul food eatery it is good. Is not the best I've had but it's good. It has a great variety of traditional soul foods. Option sizes are good. You will get full. The location is conveniently located on a corner in the parking lot of a shopping mall. It had a bar side with a private room. The seating was a little tattered but not ragged. The staff was super nice even though they were really busy. I would go back and recommend it to others.
I love this restaurant. The hostess Raigin is phenomenal. Always greeted with a smile. At the bar the twins are amazing and the drinks are always just right. The food is Exquisitely delicious. I love soul food. It taste homemade, it’s definitely the FLAVOR and tenderness that keeps me coming. 5 stars all across the board!! ~Destiny Williams
Simply put, this place is ghetto fabulous. If you’re used to going to actual 5 star restaurants, this is nothing like that. There is a live Dj inside, which lets you know that this is not your typical “5-star” peaceful environment. More so of a upbeat place for the hood. The food looks good on the outside but actually has a very bland taste! Our food came out cold and we had several problems with the actual taste there of. The ribeye steak I ordered was thin, not juicy at all. The fish my cousin had tasted as if it was cooked frozen, and the hot wings were sweet and cooked too long as well. The tablecloth is a napkin, as if we were eating at a seafood boil place or something and they don’t even use real silverware, had to cut my steak with a plastic knife. Although I will not visit again, What I can say however, is that we had a wonderful server! She was very attentive to our needs and requests and she did a wonderful job serving our table.
Okay so I went for the first time last night for my 25th birthday and it was packed but once they got the tables cleaned everyone was seated so quickly i was in shock. Shortly after we ordered our drinks they were STRONG and food and everything came out fast we were all pretty surprised since we read the reviews beforehand and saw a lot of complaints about wait times but I think they've come a long way from that from my experience
The food is AMAZING!! I have never had soul food so DELICIOUS!! It tasted better than my Grandma’s. The turkey fell off the bone, the flavor will drive you insane. It’s so delicious. Everything on the plate was A1!! Can you say DELICIOUS!! The twins at the bar are nice. The director is nice. Great service!! I’m going every Sunday!!
This was my very first visit and The Customer Service was Amazing. My food was great and our server was very professional and attentive she’s the owner neice. Man. Ok. First of all, I’m not a Memphis native. I was last week visiting from Chicago and remembered Yo Gotti opened a restaurant in Memphis for his mom. That’s the dopest sentiment alone so I'm like let’s try it out. My best friend and I decided to pull up on a Saturday night around 6pm, and it was already crowded. To our surprise, the wait was only 30 minutes. Y’all. Everyone is friendly. The security, the hostess, the waitstaff, the bell staff. I can’t speak for the bar but from a distance, they seemed cool too. Our food was delicious. I ordered blackened tilapia, and an appetizer of southwest rolls and shrimp skewers. Flavorful and just on point. While enjoying my meal, I saw Yo Gotti’s mom walking around ensuring people were ok and things were running well..Itopped her and asked is she was Ms Mims, she said yes and we struck up a small conversation. She’s so incredibly kind and genuine. We told her we were visiting and she asked us back for soul food Sunday the following day. Now y’all. I have had good soul food but I’d be untruthful if I told you I ever tasted turkey and dressing this good. It was amazing. The sides are delicious. My best friend ordered the catfish. Amazing okkkk! Erica was our waitress on Sunday and Jasmine took care of us on Saturday night. Both super nice and attentive despite how busy things get. I loved it here. The vibe, the hospitality and the food. Oh I forgot to mention, there’s a live DJ on Saturday so it’s a hip hop vibe. It’s fun, but just know. On Sunday, you gonna hear some Donnie, Kirk, Marvin, Smokey and Fred. You gonna feel the presence… okkkkk! Top notch experience, for sure. Thank you Mama Mimms and team. We will be back when we’re in Memphis.
Located in the center of East Memphis I know a lot of people go here for birthday gatherings but this is a really cool spot after 9pm weekday really good music food was on point we sat at the bar which was probably the best thing because the bartenders the twins were really good the drinks were amazing and the food I must say was very flavorful and I was very impressed. My favorite thing was the garlic green beans but the only reason why I did not get five stars was because they were a tad bit overcooked But that’s OK because it made up in flavors. The lamb chops could’ve been a tad bit bigger but everything was proportional. Oh my God the blackened Cajun shrimp was probably the best that I’ve ever had. If you never been here give it a chance helpful hit 2 plus hour wait on Saturday, but during the week is the best time!! I must say really good establishment nothing but a good vibe.
Holiday Outing It started laid back and chill, but a few hours later, it became a party house! I will be back, especially for the entertainment, drinks, and egg rolls. I didn't get any pics because I was enjoying myself! The wings and egg rolls are a must for the apps! That strawberry margarita...OMG! I only needed one... that should let you know enough. I finished my dinner with broccoli, lamb, and mashed potatoes. The serving portions were large enough for me to have 2 meals. Everything was well-seasoned! I enjoyed the live karaoke and lounge vibe later that evening. If you want to go somewhere to have a night out or date night, this is the place!
The celebration was just about over when I got there but boy the night was young......the twins was ready for the night and definitely dressed for the occasion. Happy 17th double trouble
