Chiropractic is a unique form of health care that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of health problems associated with the nervous system.
Chiropractic is often considered an alternative to mainstream medicine. At Pro-Active Wellness Center our intention is to be considered a specialty in mainstream medicine rather than an alternative to it. Just as podiatry is a specialist of conditions of the foot, the doctors at Pro-Active Wellness consider themselves specialists of the neuromusculoskeletal (nerves, muscles, bones/joints) system.
Many chiropractors focus on conditions originating from the spine. Many have become spine specialists dealing mostly with patients with neck and low back pain. What many chiropractors fail to address are conditions and dysfunction of the rest of the neuromusculoskeletal system apart from the spine. The objective at Pro-Active Wellness Center is to treat the entire neuromuskuloskeletal system including the spine but also including joints, muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and nerves from the rest of the body.
The unique aspect of Pro-Active Wellness Center is our scientific philosophy and our comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the entire neuromusculoskeletal system.
There are approximately 639 skeletal muscles in the human body. An average adult is made up of 40-50% skeletal muscle while an average female is made up of 30-40% skeletal muscles. Nearly all movement in our bodies are influenced by muscles yet a medical specialty designated to muscle conditions and dysfunction does not exist. This is a void that Pro-Active Wellness Center is attempting to fill. Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) is what will fill this void.
A.R.T. is a state-of-the-art soft tissue treatment method that addresses conditions of the muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves that arise from acute trauma or repetitive stress. There are only approximately 3,000 providers of this unique form of treatment in the entire world. A.R.T. actually holds a patent in the United States. The number of professional and Olympic athletes who rely on A.R.T. for treatment of their injuries and to improve their performance continues to grow. Although many athletes seek A.R.T. for their injuries, it is just as effective with non-sports related injuries as well. In order to be a provider of A.R.T. a certification is required after extensive training and testing.
The neuromusculoskeletal system consists of three distinct yet intertwined systems. The philosophy at Pro-Active Wellness Center is that all three parts are equally important thus all three must be addressed in treatment. We believe that the combination of the chiropractic adjustment, Active Release technique, and rehabilitation is the most comprehensive system of treating conditions of the neuromusculoskeletal system.
